I'm getting calls from loads of different companies offering me these bollocks pay day loans saying that 'They've received information that I'm struggling with debt'.

I dont have any debt!

Where the hell are they getting this info from is beyond me because I have never applied for a loan.

I wish they would fuck off. Anyone in the UK know how I can stop this?

Well when they call they say they received the info from another company but they don't know which company that is.

I have a feeling that it's one company giving my info to a load of others.

Register with the Telephone Preference Service and when these companies call, tell them to remove all your details from their computers and tell them that you're registered with the Telephone Preference Service and cold calling you is illegal.

You will. We have the same system here in NL, with an "opt-out" program which just doesn't work for shit. My dad bought some stuff from a company years ago, under his own name with his own phone number. Unfortunately though my dad and I share the same first letter of our first name, so all of a sudden I started getting these calls, with them claiming they officially had my number, hand written on a form, and that's how they got it. Obviously the name sorta matched so that was good enough, legally speaking.

Want to know how to solve it?

The 5th time they called after kindly asking them to remove my details because I'm not my own dad () I basically went complete asshole to the dude on the other end of the phone - I remained perfectly calm though. Tell them that they either remove your data or deliver some hard proof that you sent your details to them. If they do not comply, you'll sue them for harassment and unwanted solicitation. And even though sueing for bullshit like this isn't common here in NL like in the US, in a case like this you can actually get your legal support pro bono, we have a fuckload of organisations that'll stand behind you in this case.

Worked for me, last I ever heard of them. Dude on the other end also went completely silent and just ended the call with "Okay. Bye.". Not fair to him I guess, but getting a call from them 5 times within 2 weeks while working and fucking ASKING them to remove my details with them ignoring my request kind of pissed me off. Still does Laughing

this. they charge something like the equivalent of 2-300% annual interest (consider even a shitty credit card is like 18%)

Add an extra zero on the end of those percentages and you'd be closer.

Yep. Some of the sketchiest characters I've ever met. Putting yourself on a nocall list won't work; these are fly by night companies that don't give a shit about the laws. Consider changing your phone number.
