I searched and even Googled for a thread about this on here, but found nothing.

I hadn't heard about this game until today.

http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/

Quote:

KSP is a game where the player creates and manages his own space program.
Build spacecraft, fly them, and try to help the Kerbals to fulfill their ultimate mission of conquering space.

Watched a few videos on YouTube and seems like great fun! You really build your rocket/space ship/whatever from scratch, and try getting it to space, to orbit the planet or whatever you want. You have three astronauts, Kerbals, that you have to look out for (in other words, just don't kill them by crashing or blowing up your craft Very Happy). And the wonderful thing is that it's very mod-friendly and there are seemingly hundreds of parts downloadable on their forums.

Also, you can even try landing on the Moon (called the Mun in the game ), but it ain't easy it seems.

I tried finding a recent "Let's play"-type of video of the most recent version and found this one, pretty good:

Game is free right now with the option to donatee/pre-order ($7), which if you pre-order grants you all future versions, just like Minecraft.

So far it's only sandbox-mode enabled, but they are working on a campaign-style mode with a budget etc.

Anyone here played it?

Some screens:

Like I said, something is wrong with it.

You're right, there must be a thread here somewhere because I remember it was a thread here that made me aware of the existence of this game.
Can't find the thread though.. must have some weird name.

Anyway, it's quite a fun game. Worth checking out for sure. It's pretty cool when you build a rocket and then blast off the different stages and stuff on your way into space.
It could become a cool game once the campaign features are in and you have a limited budget and stuff and build better/more advanced rockets over time.

The thing I'm most curious about is, when you download mods/extra parts, can they all be built with eachother? So they aren't limited to their respective "packs" so to speak.. if anyone has played this with mods, please let me know! Smile

I played this for months, and mods works with eachother and the stock parts.
I suggest you only play with default parts in beginning tho, and wait with mods untill you're familiar with the first parts.

I warn you tho, Once you start playing, you're hooked. Hours will be wasted trying to get to that fucking moon and land there. Or in the beginning you'll just waste hours trying to get out to space

I hate you.

this game was surprisingly good in my opinion, would be nice to have more parts or easier to install mod-parts but totally not necessary to enjoy it.

How can installing mods be any easier?
You download a big *.zip file, unpack it to get many new zips, put all those over 9000 zips in the mod folder.

They are just zipped folders, folders that go straight into the Parts-folder Razz Easy as it can possibly be..

yeah, that was part of it for me too, it's surprising how many items mods add to this game if you like.

open the mod topic on the forum -> wall of text -> Me Gusta -> Focused -> decides to play with the base game a little more first.
