There has been speculation that it takes place in uncharted universe, and that guy could be Nathan Drake from Uncharted (Ellie maybe hes kid?).

In Uncharted 3, Catherine Marlowe revealed that “Nathan Drake” is not really our protagonist’s name, so it’s still a possibility that Joel and Drake are one-in-the-same just Joel being Drake’s new name. Or maybe Drake changed his name to Joel as a way of forgetting about Elena and everyone else (who could very well be dead) in the Uncharted series
The trailer is just a pre calculated demo, I really doubt it will look anything as detailed during gameplay. Yes its made using the hardware alone but its more or less a living slide show, great for intro's and in game cut scenes but not for free world gameplay.
Just remember Sony's other epic long awaited stunner, The Bounder on PS2, stunning demo's shown, sadly the game when released was nothing like what was expected.
