ghs1 + quincy's q460 for 131$ Laughing

the GHS1 gaming set has a built-in mic with an on/off switch.

Anyways, I connected it to my creative xfi titanium (installed beta drivers) and even with the mic switched off from the headphones I get this annoying static feedback.. it sort of weakens to near dead silent when I turn on music but that's still unacceptable. :\

Really annoying problem...tried the creative control panel options but didn't manage to fix it. Reverted to on board card and no problems at all, mic works prefect, no shitty static and recording works flawlessly.

Sad epic fail or what?

i'm gonna try re install the drivers but this time no beta nonsense, maybe it'll help.

Is your power outlet (the one you connect your computer to) grounded?

Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

yes of course.

I re enabled the onboard and I don't get this problem, might very very slightly to unnoticeable static (mic is turned off). If I completely disconnect the mic jack, then there's no static sound whatsoever (both onboard and creative but that's obvious).

With the creative tho, it's unbearable.

gee thanks garus !

I have a line in from the ps3 using a PL cable. I'll try disconnecting that. It's going optical soon anyways.

Hmm tried disabling all line ins, all effects and rest of the crap within windows and the creative control panel. Nothing works except for disconnecting the headphones's mic jack. It's making static noise with the jack connected even if the mic is turned off by the trigger on the headphone cable.

Sad

Maybe I should play around with the cable connecting the audio from the front panel?

omg ! fucking news flash! it's the front panel! Sad

I just tried the thing I should have tried to begin with.. connecting the headphones to the rear panel... it works flawlessly now...I just connected it (both audio and mic), without changing any options and it finally works like it should!

I also recall now that I did get a very tiny buzz from the front panel with realtek. Anyways, something in the front panel or the case front panel audio cable is fucking this up.

looks like you have a similar problem. I'll open the case, move the cable around and see if it makes any difference. It's certainly not the audio card or the headphones.
