How does a low profile director like that who made a bunch of commercials and TV shit get hired for a new Die Hard movie only to abort that and direct a 300 sequel instead?

That's how they all start. Fincher for instance went from music videos and commercials to direct Alien 3 and so on.

... well TO BE FAIR thats how some directors start. fincher just did music videos and adverts (i think) before he got his shot... im sure glad no one at fox said 'why are we giving this project to sum n00b?! '

my HOPE for this is that this new director actually does his own thing (as much as possible) rather than trying to emulate the first one and do what snyder did...
i just hope its 90 minutes of junky over the top cgi and battle scenes, and then i can be happy
