|
 |
I always thought bed bugs was some kind of flea that infested old buildings and such. Boy, I was wrong... (Bed bug in Swedish is called Vägglöss. Direct translation: Wallflea)
They are big beetles that only have one purpose - suck your blood and fuck you up mentally.
It all started a couple of weeks ago. I came home from work, and I noticed my neighbour sitting outside his apartment. I asked why and he said that they had some kind of bug, and now pest control was spraying his apartment. This was all in bad english, because my neighbour is a group of exchange students from India that don't know any swedish.
So I didn't know what kind of bug he was talking about...
A couple of nights later the itching started. I woke up with alot of red blisters all over my arms and legs. I had no idea what it was, but It was itching like hell. I showed my girlfriend my bites but she said it was probably some kind of allerigic reaction to something. I suspected bed bugs, but the thing was - she wasn't bitten.
So we did nothing. A few days later when I woke up I had been attacked again. A brutal one. It was itching all over the place. Arms, legs, back, my ass even. I went into a beserker rage and turned my bed over in the most violent way possible... and there they were.
Argh.. I wanted to cry. I saw at least ten big bed bugs, and a saw alot of blood on the back on my bed, my blood that they have been eating.
So today pest control came over, sprayed. I was happy. But then he tells me that bed bugs are difficult to get rid off, and this first session will probably not do it. He will come back in 3 weeks, and that I have to sleep in my bedroom to lure them out so they wander into the pesticide.
Now it's night. I can't sleep. I keep waking up, thinking bugs are crawling all over me. It feels like I'm slowly going mad. I'm dead tired and I want nothing else than just sleep, but I can't. I want to burn that room, and that bed. I WANT TO BURN IT ALL!!!
Arrrghh... I'm actually considering leaving this place and moving in with my parents. How the hell I'm I going to survive 3 weeks or more with no sleep?
So I'm asking, anyone else experienced bed bugs? Any tips on how to fight them?

I would leave that place asap. FUCK THAT SHIT. Having insects eating your blood, thats just a big no no. Mosquitos is one thing, but those fuckers are just evil. They build a fucking nest and have a blood party, just sucking blood, fucking and breeding.
Leave the place until its 100% clean. I would never be able to sleep with that shit on my mind. Blargh! Had a friend with those suckers, and that shit would not disappear for weeks..
And how to fight them? Well.. wikipedia says Hot water. So if you find a nest, just give them one big fat cup of HOT MOTHERFUCKING TEA ASSHOLES!
But BEWARE so you dont bring them to your new place... Chuck all clothes and stuff into the washing machine!
Squirrely: Now come on y'all. We can't waste time arguing. There could still be survivors out there. We need to hunt them down, and kill them.
Beary: How about we kill them, and then rape their bodies so we can use their blood as lubricant.

I feel for you. I couldn't sleep in that either. I bet when they sprayed the guys places next to your they moved over. They do that. Or at least cockroaches do.
I heard they are hard to get rid off, You can't take your couches, matress, rugs, only stuff that has been through the washer like Unauthorized said.

Hmmm gotto try the thing with hot water. Right now I'm using a hammer. Sitting by the bed waiting like a mad man for them to appear so I can smash them. Still considering purging the bed with fire though.

Yes, I know, please read what I have written. The pest control guys has been here (Anticimex)
But the creatures are not dead yet, I can still see them, and as I said earlier I have to wait 3 weeks for Anticimex to do another run!

I experienced bed bugs on a sail boat live abord dive trip in Australia. It was so nasty. I couldn't imagine them in my home. I feel for you. They are fucking horrible and I only had them for a couple nights.
All my stuff I put in a garbage bag and left outside in the Australian heat just to be safe. I hear (sorry to say) that they are almost impossible to get rid of.

Didn't know such a thing existed, sounds awfull, don't think we have them over here only annoying mosquitoes that don't know how to suck blood quietly, no they have to buzz around my head so I wake up and kill them, such a stupid species like they didn't evolve.

Taking naked photo's of your girlfriend and posting them on the internet is known to help.

Also, replace your bed mattress/box springs. They can live in the crevices of the mattress. Also look under tables/furniture for their droppings (check the internet for pics of them) and spray those areas (or have your pest control guy spray them). I've never experienced them (thankfully) but they've been an increasing problem around the world for the past 10 years or so as they've developed a resistance to the current spray chemicals we use, and also we don't use as powerful of chemicals anymore (since those chemicals hurt children, cause birth defects, etc).

I think the safest bet is to use a flamethrower, you know, kill it with fire and all.

Doing this will spread the infestation to other rooms. The bugs make hives close to where you sleep. So if I start to sleep in the living room they will migrate over there and make new hives. |
Sleep in a shoe box, it's small and easy to set fire too and throw away.
Problem solved!

tomme, Russian wiki page http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Постельный_клоп
mentions the most effective solution to get rid of bed bugs is dry heat. You seal room and keep heating for 20 hours at 50C, after this time all bugs should be dead. And 1 hour at 100C kills eggs. This article --> http://www.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/ef636.asp is referenced as source. There it's noted that raising thermostat wouldn't be sufficient, and additional heaters would be required.
Infected clothes, bed sheets, shoes, etc. should be disinfected in clothes dryer at medium / hight temp setting.
Another, less effective solution is to suddenly lower temperature to -15C+ and keep it so for a couple of days.
Also, article mentions nature cures. Fresh gathered Tansy flowers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tansy) and Rhododendron tomentosum(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhododendron_tomentosum) branches should be spread all across the room.

100 C in a room?? It's not an oven for god's sake. Only a flamethrower could generate that.

I had them in my last home. Nightmare to get rid of.
You need to be super clean really, strip your bed firstly and wash everything on a boil wash. then dismantle your bed and hoover absolutely every nook and cranny of your room every 3-4 days.
Get some of this stuff http://www.bedbugkiller.co.uk/rentokil-insectrol-bed-bug-spray-5-p.asp
and spray your room with it.
What type of bed do you have? if it's a wooden frame one then that'd be better. You need to hoover to make sure you get all the eggs. You should use that spray every weekend.

Dont forget to vacuum everywhere, the eggs are resistant to chemicals.
I have super paranoia since i moved into my new house, I check every other day for them.

They look like mini cockroaches. Good God.
I hear people get them from 2nd hand furniture, that is why I don't buy anything cloth. Actually I don't buy 2nd hand, I get it from people I know. I hear people pick them up from hotels too.
