Fucking MotionInJoy!! Turns out their drivers for the PS3 controller are actually online-based, in that they only work if you have a net connection direct to their site. The control panel doesn't work, the drivers won't activate and the you can't use the emulation profiles.... unless you are connected. This is bad enough at the best of time (something I didn't even know about until just now) but at least I've got a constant, always on, net connection!

.... except what happens when MotionInJoy's SITE goes down? Yeaaaah, they didn't bank on THAT did they? Fucking fuckers!!!

So their site is down, can't access it at all and that means DS3Tool (the front-end for the PS3 controller and required to use the pad on Windows) doesn't work! A "local(offline)" mode is available for DS3tool, but you have to download files first. Yeah, from MotionInJoy's website. Which is down. It's been down all fucking day and I can't use my controller because of it >_< Oh and to really rub salt in the wounds; the local(offline) mode is deliberately gimped so as to force you to use the online mode and deal with the ads stuffed all over DS3Tool. Gimped how? The analogue sticks don't work in offline mode.

Confused They use javascript and the ads are online, but as far as I know the tools are all offline.

But the interface is fucking fugly.

Or maybe it recognizes if you are black, it allows you to use it, but if white it says nope.

Nope, absolutely not offline mate. Check for yourself... disconnect the net and see if DS3tool works. The interface is goddamn ugly, but (usually) I only have to see it once per boot; Open DS3Tool, select X360 Emulator, hit ENABLE. But if there's no net connection, or connection to their site, at boot up; DS3tool doesn't work and doesn't initialise the drivers.

Unfortunately, the USB driver is no longer included in the package. This means that you will be unable to load the full driver without an internet connection. There is the ability to load the DS3 Tool locally, which we’ll get to later.

As mentioned above, there is supposed to be a local mode, for those who can’t constantly be connected to the internet. This is done by extracting this archive file into your /MotioninJoy/DS3/ directory. After that, you can start up the DS3 Tool, and select “Local” in the top toolbar. Unfortunately, this will only allow for basic digital controls – no analog or dualshock at all. I guess this is to keep people coming back to the tool to display ads while they enable more functionality.

Absolutely fucking pathetic. See, Blizzfans? THIS is why "online only" is a BAD idea! Not just for endusers without a stable net connection.. but also because you can never predict when the HOST will go down. Note: MotionInJoy has been down all day now.
