So my parents are going to buy a new TV for me soon or later to give my actual one to someone...the problem is that new TVs nowadays just comes with one SCART / Euroconnector thing input and not two (because ooooh HDMI is the FUTUUUURE)

My actual TV: Sony KDL-22-EX302
The TV they looked: http://www.sony.es/product/tv-66-26-lcd/kdl-26ex320#pageType=TechnicalSpecs

Here's the problem:

I actually own a Pinnacle Moviebox HD (latest version, white),the TV i mentioned and a DVD+HDD Sony Recorder...

The Pinnacle cable has it's component cables (red yellow white) connected to a Scart with Fem component cables ...this last one's connected to my TV Scart input to record TV shows or whatever at the moment

The 2nd cable, the DVD+HDD is connected to the TV also for programmin shows with another simple Scart Cable

Then there's this 3rd component cables (ryw again) at the Left side of the TV..used normally for PS2/3/Wii and useful for multirecording.

Now here's the dilemma

Since the new TV has only 1 Scart input and not 2 like my actual one,i would have to buy a Scart Splitter like this one http://www.hama.es/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=108_176_247&products_id=413

The thing is...if i plug the pinnacle and DVD+HDD cables into this one and put the main splitter's cable to the TV,will it act the same as my actual TV setup?...and if i put the PS2/3/Wii cable in the 3rd hole, will the Pinnacle software detect the TV signal with the console being show on TV?

I know it's CONFUSING but this setup never failed on me...else it'll be a huge pain in the ass to change cables here n there for one simple thing

HEEEEEEEELP!!!!

Red/white/yellow != component. That's video + the left/right audio channels. Component is usually red/blue/green and only transports video. Those 3 cables you refer to are in fact compoSITE video and two audio channels (left + right).

All of your consoles can output real component video so start using that, route audio directly into your sound system if possible - Component video gives better quality as well. Means 3 cables just for the image to the TV, and then either a digital output to your sound system or stereo into the TV.

Your new TV has 1 SCART and something called composite video, which basically is that Euro connection crap. That, and it has a stereo input on the back (according to the specs anyway), so stuff the red+white cable into a stereo joiner (those 2 cables are nothing more than the stereo audio split up) and you can use that.

Honestly though DV, SCART is so pointless; you do realise the quality is terrible right? Like I said, component video is a significant step up already, let alone something like HDMI. DVD/HDD recorders are cheap as well nowadays, just sell your current one for whatever you can get for it and get one with HDMI.

aint gonna get component cables..i already got my PS3 with HDMI...it's just my PS2 is compoSITE and i do RECORDINGS to UPLOAD THEM LATER ON THE NET...See an example here of one of my uploads

i know the quality is shit but i aint gonna pay more for the HD...i'm good with what i have now..maybe in a future, but not now...

My actual Sony HDD+DVD Recorder only has HDMI Output...aka only plays from the HDD but cant record PS3 HDMI Gameplay me thinks.....get it?..yeah i'm kind of oldschool...

PS2 can do component; IIRC (been a while) you even get the proper cable with the console, if not it'll probably cost you just about nothing these days.

Anyway, with most splitters it means you either have to physically flick a switch, or you can only have one device on at any given time.

But,for example, having the PS2 scart cable plugged in and showed at the TV will display the game, while the other PC capturer's scart captures (it doesnt interferes with the TV at the current setup or display i have).

The thing is...if there's a switch/button scart splitter,if you activate the PS2 one while the PC scart's connected yet not enabled...the PC Scart wont detect any signal while the PS2 shows on screen?...that might be a big problem...dont ya think?...

Need a video to show off my current setup?..that might make you understand my situation...
