Adult Super Mario a darker Mario
The Mario games are noted for being set in colorful, goofy, cartoonishly fun worlds that just happen to be populated by deadly flora and fauna, and have landscapes teeming with death-traps. And that’s in addition to the constant threat of invasion by a totalitarian state bent on world domination and the eradication of the Mushroom Kingdom’s population. Point is, forget the happy cheerful music and candyland colors, the Kingdom is a scary mothaflippin’ place and only a fool, or a magical plumber, would even consider staying there longer than the maximum number of seconds it takes to immediately leave.
Artist Mike Puncekar agrees, and to make the case better than I ever could, he’s designed several reimagined versions of Mario’s famous rogues gallery that more accurately reflect the threat level facing each and every visitor to that unhappy place. Think the Piranha PLant as Audrey 2, or Shyguys as Ring Wraiths and you get the idea. No more will we whimsically hum the theme from Mario 3 while strolling down the street. Now we will hum it in terror while weeping ourselves to sleep.

Honestly? The only ones I like are the Bob-omb (though that thing looks like a sad little bomb :/ ) the Piranha Plant and the Shy Guy (though the design doesn't seem to fit a Shy Guy but I really like it).
edit:
I think I might have worded that wrong.
I really like his style but I'm not a fan of the gritty/dark/evil design for a mario game.
