Drakan: Order of the Flame is an action-adventure computer game developed by Surreal Software and published by Psygnosis in 1999. The game follows Rynn, a young woman with extraordinary martial skills, and an ancient dragon Arokh on their quest to free Rynn's younger brother from the evil sorcerer Navaros. The gameplay alternates between dungeon exploration and monster fighting when Rynn is alone and aerial dogfights when she mounts Arokh. A sequel, Drakan: The Ancients' Gates, was released in 2002.

...and finally, I have to ask one simple question: WHY IS THERE NO THREAD FOR THIS?! This section of the forum deosn't get many views and there are quite few discussions in it from what I see (a shame really), but I hope this thread will be welcomed anyway.

I used to love this game! Didn't have a good enough computer at the time of it's release so i had to go to my grandpa and play it, me and my cousin. Not sure if we ever completed it though.

This is one my favorite action adventure game, right there with Severance and maybe Rune (which was good, but not as good as these in my opinion). I can't believe how underrated this can be... I heard many people mentioning Severance as a great game on the internet over the time, but Drakan? No, very few people mentioned it. I'm also aware of the PS2 sequel (such a shame that Sony was the one that bought Surreal Studios Sad) because I tried to emulate it a few times and it ran fine but I always had very unstable fps and some bugs. I'm going to give it another try later as I found what seems to be the right configuration for PCSX2 to play the game from start to end. Also, everyone says that dragons are overused in gaming, yet I never saw a game that did what Drakan did and did it so good (the dogfights and flying mechanics in the second game don't seem that good from what I saw in videos). What I hope is that we'll see some kind of remake or an unofficial game in the Drakan universe once Skyrim is released. Probably that's why nobody attempted to make a game like this, because of the missing flying mechanics that were done so great in Drakan (just a thought of mine anyway). Drakan has some mods but they're only maps and retextures from what I know because the game wasn't very moddable. Someone also attempted to make the second game on the engine of the first game from what I know, but failed due to the many differences in how the games were build and worked.

Ok, so I managed to get the second game running on the latest build of PCSX2 and it runs pretty good so far, with the exception of a few fps drops (though I'm running the game at 1280x1024 and my PC isn't really the best). Also, the game looks really good:

It's also one of the games that show that even console games were complex in the past...
