My PC is working just fine too. Be it for internet, programming, image manipulation, watching movies/tvseries, gaming, music, reading and whatever. It's great with all of it and it's also very powerful, which can't be said about tablets.
Maybe he's still using one of those IBM 5150s he helped design?

IBM sold off their PC division in 2005.
Of course they want to see the PC burn and die, they want people to move away from PC's and onto other stuff that IBM sells.

Is there some kind of console lobby group that sends all these journalists money so they can continue to say "pc-gaming is dead"?? It's getting silly. We have Steam, origin is starting up and if EA sees potential in the pc market it can't be dead. We have facebook games, 200 mmos coming out every year, lots of indie games that makes a killing....

First of all this is about the PC as a device dying, not PC gaming (therefore it doesn't belong here).
Secondly more or less nobody says it's dying anymore I think. There are still some complaints about piracy, but that's it. Hell you have EA say that they see the PC becoming their #1 source of revenue thanks to Facebook, f2p, etc.

I think I'll keep on trucking with my dead PC's then.
Everyone else can socialize it to the max with their uber tablets.

Sorry but I just read the article and you should definitely compare what the DAILY MAIL is writing and what he is writing on his OWN BLOG: http://asmarterplanet.com/blog/2011/08/ibm-leads-the-way-in-the-post-pc-era.html
He is clearly talking about the future and he does not say that the table is the better tool and that PCs SHOULD be dumped
That guy is an IBM fellow, and that is not a position that one gets when he is talking bullshit...
If you think about what he is saying, I'd say that it might really come true, as a natural process. I am used to what the PC is now, but while it looks pretty similar to what we had 20 years ago, PCs from today are actually very different to what we had before... Software will change, hardware will change, our interaction with the computer will change and eventually we will change.
If it's better or not is a totally different question
What he mainly talks about is about his new position as CTO in Africa and that he has high hopes on what the IBM can do there.
On another note: from a business point, it was a perfect choice for IBM to leave the PC business behind, when they have their actual focus on anything but the end user
