Motivated by the discussion we had about Stephen Hawking and his views on interstellar travel.
Found this documentary about space made by an astrophysicist:

Watch it in 720p, it is worth it.

Well is there a law that states that it has to be at least x min long then?
Anyway this is home made material and not some studio.

well it doesnt even state its a documentary but you called it one, its more glimpse of something not relating to a a short film/tv programme which is the what a documentary is.

id not even lass something under 30 mins as such really, 3 min documentaries are a joke... let alone 11.. Thd whole universe/space thing is amazing yes but I was let down after clicking your link labled documentary that you found... was hoping for more..

sorry to disappoint you but this "short programme" tries to sketch a picture how big the Universe really is and in just 11 min it does a pretty good job at that.

Space - the final frontier, these are the voyages, of the starship Ent.. oh wait..

Sometimes I get really depressed, when I think of all the space, how I will never see another planet, star, galaxy.. countless beautiful sights out there Sad

Reminds me how insignificant I am.. Crying or Very sad

Its to please the American viewer, 11 mins is the max length of time an American can sit down without wandering off to McDonalds or Walmart.

I think the first building on the moon will be a McDonalds. Should the aliens become hungry, very practical.

Are you sure? The way the things are going, the first store on the moon would probably be an Apple store. Smug

Any chance you have read "The Face" by Jack Vance? Very Happy

Some vids of space telescopes:
Herschel and Planck: (480p)
The good old Hubble: (720p)
And the planned successor of Hubble: (720p)

The James Webb space telescope will be placed far away from Earth even further away than the moon.

For me it's the opposite. It shows me how much I don't know, and how there is much super interesting things to find out ^^

Well not all will go and explore space Smile

Some will stay and study the Earth, plants and animals...

Funny you mentioned that WaldoJ, the other day I was trying to find some footage of the deepest dive in history: 7 miles down with the Bathyscaph Trieste.
Only 2 people have ever been at the bottom of the Marianas Trench, more people visited the moon.

How is it not? The length does not determine genre in this case.
