Following his acclaimed debut, Shotgun Stories, writer/director Jeff Nichols reteams with actor Michael Shannon to create a haunting tale that will creep under your skin and expose your darkest fears.
Curtis LaForche lives in a small town in Ohio with his wife, Samantha, and daughter, Hannah, a six-year-old deaf girl. When Curtis begins to have terrifying dreams, he keeps the visions to himself, channeling his anxiety into obsessively building a storm shelter in his backyard. His seemingly inexplicable behavior concerns and confounds those closest to him, but the resulting strain on his marriage and tension within his community can’t compare with Curtis’s privately held fear of what his dreams may truly signify.
Take Shelter features fully realized characters crumbling under the weight of real-life problems. Using tone and atmosphere to chilling effect, Nichols crafts a powerful psychological thriller that is a disturbing tale for our time
I'm really interested about this since i read some reviews from Sundance praising the performances and story
Yeah, I liked what I've seen in the trailer (in terms of performance); it looks like a very intriguing movie
Maybe some cheap cgi effect here and there as azzman said, but it doesn't really matter since those are "secondary" aspects in movies like this one
I like Michael Shannon performance another similar movie is "My son, my son, what have ye done"... and guess what Michael Shannon is again the main actor in it
same could be said about his most craziest role in "13"

Since it's so rare that you and me are in agreement about anything, I find worthy mentioning that I personally find Michael Shannon to be one of the most prominent American actors currently active.
He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither

Jeff Nichols who is directing this, also directed Shotgun Stories with Shannon, you should check it out since it's a good film with great performances.
As for this, it's an independent film so you have to be stupid to bitch about the CGI, and in some shots it looks really impressive.
