Crap, dusted off the old fat 360 for LA Noire only to find that games only work a few minutes before self imploding with a Disc Cannot Be Read error. Guess the DVD must be failing? Is there any way I can fix this thing, or should I just throw this piece of garbage in the trash and shell out $300 for a PS3 with 3.60 OFW?

Have you tried installing them to HDD/USB stick?

Yeah I tried installing games to the HDD and it still failed. I also took out the HDD and installed to a USB Flash drive and still no go.

You could replace the optical block. It's about 50 euros here, not sure what the prices are in your area. Either way you'd end up cheaper than getting a new console.
I would imagine you're using the latest, but just to be sure; what fw are you on? Asking because if you're on LT 1.0, that one had some bugs that made some drives (I think it was Liteon, but I'm not sure) give disc read errors. LT 1.1 fixed that.

Same problem as I have. I try about 30 times to install a game and eventually it works 
I think I'm going to bring it to the modding dude to have the dvd drive replaced. My price should be €30 so it's worth a shot.
