I am concerned with that more action less horror statement that was made awhile back. Love this franchise, would hate to see it turn into another cover based third person shooter

31st Dec is Bullshit. That's the date most companies and stores use when they don't have an exact date yet, but know it will be released in that year. So it's very likely coming out before that. Why would they want to miss out on the christmas sellings?

While I usually go by the publishers release date your point does have credibility (at least in my experience) so I have updated the topic to show a quarter 4 release date.

4th quarter? So they'll probably go for a christmas release? Though who knows what they think.
Haven't played Dead Space more than half an hour until I needed some new pants.
I really should do that since the story seems pretty cool. If the sequel is as scary as the first part this might turn into the new Resident Evil, since Resident Evil stopped being Resident Evil with the 4th part :/

loved the first one, the sounds/background noises were so unnerving to me, I was on the edge of my seat.

Hope there will be some nice e3 coverage for this.

BTW, anyone see Pandorum? It didn't really get great reviews, but I loved that movie.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry, to be honest. First Dead Rising 2 and its ridiculous "pay for the demo and prologue story!!!111" bullshit, where if you DON'T buy it - you don't get the opening story for DR2. Now the same has happened for Dead Space 2 as well; the prologue just went on sale on the XB marketplace. This one is priced lower than DR-CZ, but still ... charging extra to get the prologue to a story is .... sigh.

Quote:

Dead Space Ignition is the prologue to Dead Space 2, in which you must survive the initial Necromorph outbreak on the Sprawl. The game blends an interactive comic presentation of the story with three unique hacking games—Hardware Crack, System Override, and Trace Route. You'll also receive unlocks in Dead Space 2, including an exclusive suit for Isaac Clarke. Can you survive the events leading up to Dead Space 2?

400MSP to you sucker, uh I mean sir. Or you get it free if you preorder the game Rolling Eyes

Think of all those 5 scene and 3 min worth of story you're missing out on! Cool Face
It's just a bunch of hack minigames and some comic-bookish mild story. Just wait for a youtube movie with all story scenes.

agreed, it was a very good game. and now that you mention sounds, I just remembered that when I played the first game I did not yet have my 5.1 surround sound. I think before this sequel comes out I'll give the first one another go. bound to be exciting again when you can hear stuff creeping up behind you..

I wonder how this game would be with 3D.. should be pretty awesome...

I haven't seen any gameplay of DS:Ignition yet, but from what I have read it is just a collection of stupid minigames... With comic sequences inbetween...

There is also supposed to be an achievement for completing the game under 25 minutes Rolling Eyes

It's awful. When I got those 10k MSP for £16, I bought DS:Ignition and INSTANTLY wished I hadn't.... it's a comic with some of the worst drawings I've ever seen in a commercial product (seriously, web-comic doodles are better drawn) and the most bored-sounding and lacklustre voice acting too. I sincerely hope Ignition wasn't made by the same team making DS2, otherwise DS2 is going to be hideous.

And yes, it's just a collection of mini-games. A pseudo racing game, a connect-the-colours line puzzler and a tower defence clone where you control the "monsters" getting past the towers.

Absolutely AWFUL game, biggest waste of money I ever spent on XBL.

O rly? That sounds nice. I don't really care about coop in a game like this though, you should be alone and scared.. though I can see its appeal. Might as well have the option to if its well done. Competitive MP sounds like a joke though, the game is kind of clunky by design (though no where near as bad as Resident Evil games), just doesn't seem to be a good fit. We'll see though.

I might have to pick it up for PS3 too. Loved loved loved the first one. I was surprised how similar the storylines of the data logs and stuff you pick up were to System Shock 2.
