Dunno if it was what I experienced 2-3 times, which was not being able to open my eyes or move even though I felt conscious and I really wanted to get out of bedu.
If it was that then I deem it as not scary and I deem you, Firemaster, a pussy.

You're sleeping and dreaming of beer and pussy or whatever your life dream is just for some really disturbing and scary shit to happen and you can't wake up or move. SO it carries on for quite a while unless someone wakes you up.

Never had it, but heard and read about multiple crazy things. Like some really weird monster standing at the door looking at you, or seeing shadows around the room like there is someone you just cant get your eyes on and lies down in your bed and whisper things in your ear, or giant spiders in the room. I guess if you're really conscious you can write of multiple things such as the spider as bullshit, and just wait for it to go away, but the other things are quite freaky.

It's because you're not completely awake, still actually part of the REM sleep cycle, so you hallucinate - the things you see in your dream actually take on, what you minds perceives as, a physical form. Add to that being utterly paralysed (I'm not talking about having a dead leg or something, but completely and totally unable to move whatsoever) and yeah... quite unsettling too say the least. Horrible experience I don't wish to repeat :\

it's weird though that people seem to always have bad experiences with this such as monsters and such. Is this mainly connected with nightmares or something?

whats weird though from what i've read is that there is basically sets of different scenarios to this, well, kind off. You don't usually dream such things when in a nightmare it's strange how they manifest like this when you're paralyzed.

Definitely the scariest shit ever. At least while awake you have the chance to either fight or flee the threat. Not watch it stare at you right in your face and you can't even fucking move.

It's been a long, long time since it happened to me.. but basically it a case of laying there, shitting myself, and eventually regaining control of my body and feeling that evil horrible shitty atmosphere just dissipate.

It happened to me a few years ago. I dreamt I opened these huge metall doors going deeper and deeper into what seemed to be hell. Suddenly when I opened one of the doors, the devil jumped out and screamed FREE! You've set me free!! And then he caught my head between the teeth of his trident type weapon. I woke, but my head was to the side and I couldnt move it for a few minutes because I thought I was still cought between the trident. Very scary shit.
