This is Driftmoon. It is a roleplaying game that tells the story of the Pendant of Life, and how it was reforged. It is also a story about how Robert lost everything but his bones, but that didn’t stop him. And it is a story about the little firefly who wanted to be a big star, but was stuck in a crypt.
Driftmoon is an adventure-oriented roleplaying game, with focus on storytelling, exploring and quests. In Driftmoon there are always plenty of things to find and people to meet, and instead of killing all of your enemies, you can sometimes talk your way through.
Features:

* Filled with personality, wit and goodwill!
* Explore the dungeons, wilderness and villages of Driftmoon, you never know what you might discover!
* You can talk with the people you meet. You may make new friends, you may find quests to solve, or you may encounter a hostile cultist of Ixal.
* Driftmoon comes with the full editor tools used to create the game. We have our own easy scripting language, a great level editor, animation tools, the complete set!
* You can drag things around!
* You only need one hand to play! (Any one handed players out there?)
* Memorable and melodic music by the talented Gareth Meek.

Played the demo last year and it was very fun. I can hardly wait for the full version.

Not a fan of the viewangle, strangely enough I play a lot of roguelikes and it shouldn't bother me, but it somehow reminds me of Valhalla on the Amiga.

I played the March beta a few days ago and it's fun and has pretty interesting mechanics but we'll see what else there is once it's released, beta is a bit limited but gives a decent first impression about it. Smile

Same here; and it's a shame since the game itself (trailer+infos) looks quite promising.

Maybe the developers will put isometric view in it till release if people point that out to them. Smile

2. Then why don’t you just turn the camera a bit, make the game more like an isometric game?

Actually, I have done that since the preview version. In recent versions the camera is about as far south as I can make it without things starting to look weird. Turning it south even more would mean we need 3D models for the characters, which I won’t do since I want people to be able to mod the game easily.

Thanks for the tip. I just killed Bill The Troll in Trollmane. It's a great game!

Nice, also the full version build got updated on February 10th so it should be a bit more complete now, not a bad game but I don't really know what the status of it is or when it's planned for release but I like what it has so far. Smile
(It's been a while since you could drag stuff around or interact with a lot of things, early builds were a bit generic but it's shaped up pretty well by now.)

I've just been trying the demo and I gotta say, I really like it! It's smart and funny and reminds me of Dink Smallwood, only with a more stronger lean towards RPG mechanics. I do believe I'll purchase this.. and they even offer you a 20% off coupon from directly within the game, bringing it down to a more pocket-friendly €11.99 Very Happy

Another Driftmoon alpha is now downloadable! If you haven't preordered yet, this is a great time to support the development of a unique indie roleplaying game! And be sure to sign up to be notified when the game is released.

As you approach the peaceful-looking shore of Eione, you can't help but wonder where on this island... Wait a moment, I was just about to reveal the whole plot! What I mean to say is that the new areas of Eione and its underwater tunnels are now available for your pleasure. You'll also finally meet Bobby, the skeleton from the menu!

Besides the new areas, quests and important plot-twisters, the new version includes more portraits, fixes for graphics glitches, and most importantly, the new mist effect!

A small warning, the new areas haven't been properly balanced for difficulty yet. If you find any group of enemies way too difficult, we're eager to hear your feedback. Just click the little feedback button.

-----------------

We've already started work on the game's ending, so it won't be too long now before we're ready to release the game! Could be your final chances to get the discount code.

Modding Changelog

The script variable list that shows global flags and available variable names now has a filter, making it easier to find what you're looking for.
Fog can now be enabled through the Map settings in the level editor.
Joint creation scripts now have the ability to specify a target object instead of just using the caller.
ControlRotateJoint includes the ability to set the resumeForce.
Race property baseAttackTime affects how often a bot will try to use its weapon.
Race property attackTimeRandomization can now make enemy attack times more or less randomized.
Mod specific options can now be modified and checked using scripts for modFlags.
Support for non-square textures.
Ps. See if you can spot the new easter egg in the menu screen. It won't be visible until you've played the new version through.

It's not far off completion now, so I'm really looking forward to it. I bought it back in Feb and have had a blast with each new build =)

Doesn't look too bad, but oh my god, that camera. As everything is already rendered 3D why no isometric camera or a bit tilted view, takes almost no time to implement ;(

I really don't know, probably a style thing -- though it wouldn't go amiss to offer a choice to people that aren't happy with the current camera. I'm quite fine with it the way it is, I kind of like the direct top-down view.

They already add it, you can tweak slightly the camera angle it in the demo.
Although it looks too cartoonish to my taste the game seems to be fun.
My main issue is that I'm getting a lot of stuttering.

I recommend you try it out, it's surprisingly FUN. TPB has the latest gog version+patch.

It has a surprising amount of c&c, several different endings ( Terrible, bad, somewhat bad but mostly ok, great ), the writing is solid and at times really funny ( lots of easter eggs and references ).
It's pretty short, around 8-10 hours max, but a pleasure to play.

1.003 is out. Smile

(Driftmoon\Data\Version.txt)

EDIT:

1.003
-Fixed the quest log button.
-Minor performance improvements.
-Mod installer can now properly handle mods where files have been removed from the mod.
-Added an option to disable some graphics effects to make the game run faster.

I've tried it briefly, it's pretty great in my opinion. Rough but it's a proper RPG, with entertaining text and characters, and nice puzzles too. The camera works just fine, as well as the combat (clumsy-ish but fun). Smile
