Yes its impressive at first.
But the problem with android i have is, they always want to make some uber hardware in their tablets/smartphones. But in the end not many apps will utilize the hardware.
They should somehow make the apps more compatible with the different hardwares.
For example downloading the .apk files of games Smile . Some time ago it was already hard, because of different processors, like Snapdragon and PowerVR. And now you get more shit like Xperia Play oder Tegra exclusive. I have the new Samsung Galaxy S2 and can't play properly many of the "cool" games. Even while the hardware is better than the Tegra processor for example.

That is the biggest advantage for the Iphone. Only one hardware possibility. Which results in better optimized apps.

Nah, the biggest advantage for the iDevices is the software support. All the developers that support iDevice but not Android ... until Android can pull some bigger names over to it, it will forever stay 2nd.

First of all, Snapdragon and PowerVR are different animals; former is a SoC with Adreno as GPU, latter is "just" a GPU (bit more, but it's no SoC) Smile

And if shit runs bad on your S2, I find that very amusing, since I must have not seen whatever the fuck you're playing on it. My measly Desire (the original) runs everything fine so far (does tend to get really friggin hot though). And your Galaxy S2 IS a fucking Tegra 2; we already know NVIDIA failed a bit with Tegra 2, including the drivers. At least get your facts straight when you try to be clever :E

Roll on 3.0, that should take care of the "fragmentation" the OS "suffers" from (it's really not half as bad as everyone makes it sound, especially not for serious companies like Rovio).

Galaxy S 2 with Exynos is great. Galaxy S 2 with Tegra 2 is piece of poop.

There are two versions of S 2. At least get your facts straight when you try to be clever. Embarassed

Actually Pumpy, mate, Werelds is partially correct;

http://www.talkandroid.com/31802-tegra-2-chips-will-power-some-galaxy-s2-devices/

the Galaxy S2 has region-dependant hardware. Some regions will get the Tegra 2, others will get the Exynos.

~edit~

My bad, I thought they dropped the Exynos entirely.

Still, there's no way he's having problems playing anything if my Desire can handle it Neutral

I thought multi-core processors were supposed to be more power efficient (unless of course all processors are actually being used to 100%, which is usually not the case)?

Can't remember which one it was, but I think it's was Tegra which can't turn an unused core off completely. Stupid design flaw Smile
