A team of fans of Street of Rage have been making this for 8 years.
If you grew up playing the Sega Genesis then you would know why i am excited for this.

Quote: | Streets of Rage Remake is a project created from scratch, it does not use reverse engineering nor a single line of code from the original games. It’s all based on visual interpretation, comparing how things work in the original games and trying to mimic it for Streets of Rage Remake.
Some of its functions:
* Animation timing, animation positioning, control response, X/Y/Z positions and physical movement for all characters are accurate to the original games.
* 64 modules of AI per enemy to represent walking and reactions.
* Collisions and damages based on the original games.
* The same score system algorythm that is used in SOR2.
* Grabs and vaults as in the original games.
* Autosave savestates that allow you to continue the game from the same point, exit windows, alt+x, etc.
* Prediction of resources, to speed loading times.
* All functions of all the original games in the series are emulated:
- Over 30 configurable options in the menu
- Star and Special Meter sytems
- 6-button controller actions
- Different types of weapons, and Special Weapon attacks
- Police specials
- And much more |

Awesome!
I just died
No doubt about it, its SOR. This isnt just a remake, its a whole new game. Lots of new levels new gadgets and thingies, old levels have been hyped up, very dynamic and excellently put together. There's a mix brewing of all the SOR's, characters blended together, old enemies, some new ones. Delicious..thats some good soup
It's hard as fuuck though. I dont like it that enemies can break up your super attack, if ya get mushed in you are very screwed..royally. I havent found any new moves while playing with Axel tho, that super combo attack button doesnt seem to do anything for me.
I can't run the game in HQx2, it starts grinding me machine hehe.

Quote: | ORIGINAL STORY: SEGA has demanded that a hugely ambitious fan-made remake of its classic Streets of Rage beat 'em up be taken down from the web.
As reported by Gamasutra, developer Bomber Games unofficial effort had finally gone live last week following eight years in development. The free download boasted 103 stages, 19 playable characters, 64 enemies, 83 remixed songs, more than 40 cutscenes and eight different endings.
On top of all that, it had also shoehorned in a Survival Mode, Boss Rush Mode, Events Mode, Volleyball Mode, Allied CPU Mode, Profile Editor, Image Gallery, and a fistful of customisation options.
SEGA's lawyers clearly weren't as impressed as the internet at large was, however, asking the developer to take the game down.
"SEGA have contacted regarding the download hosted on this site," wrote a moderator on the Bomber Games forum. "While this issue is being resolved, please do not upload the game for others to download. Any links posted on this site will be removed. Thank you."
UPDATE: A SEGA spokesperson has given Kotaku the following statement: "SEGA is committed to supporting any fans that take an interest in our games, and where possible we do so by involving them in Beta tests and other development, marketing or research opportunities.
"However we need to protect our intellectual property rights and this may result in us requesting that our fans remove online imagery, videos or games in some instances." |
Bastards.

Thats such a backstab. I cant believe it.
The dudes said Sega was made aware by a formal letter years back and was ok with it. So much for birocratic integrity..what a disgrace. They will suffer flames for this. I expect them to back down as soon as they overcome their greed.
