Dude, you're talking about the platform and the associated gaming culture that gave birth to Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. Show some respect Smile

I'll show respect when that same platform stops being responsible for console trying to be more than what they are, and screwing up 95% of my shooters Sad

In Resident Evil 1 was very funny when you tried to use the ladder to go down and the game asked "Will you go down? Yes/No" Smile

So I think we can all agree on this one: Homefront is the spiritual successor of Resident Evil Cool Face.

Not sure this really qualifies, but every game that says "Are you sure you want to quit?" when you click quit. Like the developers assume anyone who goes through the trouble of pressing escape and clicking quit must be a dumbass who did it accidentally.

That's all over the place now though. You need to confirm every stupid action you take.

Seems like most developers haven't realized that a good UI is one that needs few clicks to get things done.

Well, the extra query on the quit screen serves a different purpose: to make you stay and play some more Smile Exhibit A: Max Payne's quit window.

Well in that regard, all the confirmation things serve that purpose, it's meant to make the user feel that he's in control of what's going on. It's a pretty common "Web 2.0" practice as well, although the big sites have or are moving away from it a bit now Smile

PlayStation 2 & Xbox
NA March 19, 2002

It's in the beginning of the derp-age, also how is PS2 and Xbox "Golden Oldie" now?
By the looks of things, maybe we should rename the thread to "Old console games had weird language too".

Thank you Lord Epsilon. PSX/N64 were the last real consoles as far as I'm concerned, also the last 2 I owned myself. Also the last consoles that had a good amount games I wanted. Still no match for my NES + golden Zelda cartridge I got as a present <3

Though more related to the above English translation quality pics than the simplified instructions and such in the first post there's a neat translation error in Zelda 2 (NES) with one NPC presenting himself as "I am Error" whereas (I found out years later.) it was supposed to be Errol.
