Dunno about you guys, since it's a really fun game to come back to once in a while I decided to give it a try today on a new SVN build of PCSX2 and guess what.. it runs super smooth @ constant 60 fps on my i5 2500 and ati 5850 (tested it with max res of 1050p but still), bug free (haven't noticed any glitches whatsoever but maybe I'm blind). Very Happy

So, my recommendation is give it a go! Get the latest stuff from: http://www.emucr.com/

Btw, they massively delayed the remastered version for the PS3. Sad

Still, gz on this! (I guess Smile ). Tried a while ago emulating some games (mainly GoW 1 & 2) but my old AM2 X2 5600+ was raped on almost any game I tried, thus I gave up quite fast on this PSx business. Smile

If you got decent hardware i5, i7 you can get most games running 100%. Smile

Shit, you can get most games running 100% on hardware vastly inferior to an i7 ... lmao!!! Jeez man! My E7200 clocked at a measly 3.6 will run most everything perfectly. Some of the more "problem" titles, like SotC and MGS3, require a touch more power than I've got, but that's really about it.

Well, back in the days when I had an E8600, it used to emulate PS2 games without breaking a sweat. Point is, Intel (Cool Face) dual-core CPUs are more than enough for such tasks.

I was actually refering to old gen i5, i7, not necessarily the new SB.

Which card did you run?

My brother has E8500 laced to a 5770 and it's running ok but not constant 60fps. :\

Card doesn't matter, for the most part, it's the CPU that's important -- but! I'm running a 4870-1G.

Yeh, looks like his stock speed E8500 bottlenecks it a bit.

Btw, Tourist Trophy also works nice but with some shadow bugs that spoil the fun a bit. lol wut

Sorry, tell a lie; one other game that (for me, at least) never ran full NTSC-60fps; Front Mission 4. Usually got around 45-55fps on that, though that was on a VASTLY outdated version; 0.9.7 SVN 2769 .... positively ancient now Very Happy

You take the 0.9.8 version of PCSX2, add 2X EE Cycle Rate speed up and it's so much better than the PS2, you also have to change in game to 16:9 and enable progressive scan oh and use the save state so you don't have to mess with that crap more than once.

Play around with the settings/plugins, you'd be surprised. I got SotC and other games running smoothly on that same CPU using after browsing their forums for some pointers. Though I guess it depends what you consider "smooth". I don't really need 60 fps to play.

I might have fixed the CPU problem now. Adding to that an improved version of the emu, things might get interesting under these new circumstances. Smile I know there are some excellent titles that SHOULD be played by any videogames fan.

Still, I probably need to get a gamepad now. Very Happy

Yes! look at the video I posted yesterday. Btw, I have huge correction to add! The uploader of the youtube video I posted yesterday replied to me that you shouldn't use the custom res input but 3x Scaling instead. I also noticed that when you use that it auto offers you to enable progressive scan (when you initiate the game). I reckon it's exactly what it does on a real PS2 console with the exception that on the emulator you can scale games beyond 480p or 1080i.
