so if i read this ,you had a XBOX unused for 1 year with a HDD and now when you turn your XBOX you get a "HD unformatted error"
1. your HDD could have bad sectors
2. your HDD is dieing
3. magnetic interference/dust/humidity damaged your HDD
you could try to hook it up to a PC to check if you could retrieve your saves , fix it and format it a new ... if it happens again then well Buy a new HDD or play with a USB stick

yeah, most likely the HDD is dieing. how could Microsoft fuck this up???? I have old spin HDD back from 90's that are still perfectly good. I mean flash HDD are 100x more resilient to failure, yet somehow Microsoft managed to fuck even that
Is there a way I could scan that HDD for bed sectors? and will it even help??
