after having flashed my 360 which i haven't touched for years, i started playing again because well... free games etc.
after a week and a half of light gaming... i mean light as in 2-3 hours a day at most the thing fucking dies on me.
anyways since i have no warranty and can't find any local(unofficial) repair stores and i'm definitely not about to fork out a fortune so MS can do it, i was thinking of attempting a fix myself.
i've heard good things about the PRO repair kit II from team Xecuter so i might order one of those.
has anyone fixed their own 360 succesfully with the same kit and was it difficult?
nice but the store i'm using in my country only sells the xecuter kit and they have their own tutorial on their site(xecuter) so i'm basically asking anyone who has used that before.
but still if you could get it fixed with a homemade kit i suppose it isn't too hard.. =/
It was easy enough to use (presuming you've opened an xbox before) and if not, it's not difficult.
The hardest part was getting the heat sink back on purely as I was going it on a coffee table rather than somewhere sensible. The kit itself was easy to use and afaik, the console still works (gave it to a mate in the end)
Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz - 32GB Kingston HyperX - Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7 - EVGA GTX 980 TI SC 6GB - Asus ROG Swift PG278Q
i used the baking trick managed to reboot my 360 out of the rrod.
here's the problem though: after i turn it on succesfully(get to the menu screen etc.) the thing starts to overheat too easily.
it pretty much goes full power from the getgo with full speed on the fans and the moment i start a game or linger around the menu too long it shuts off due to overheating.
dunno what i'm doing wrong... tried reapplying thermal paste and tightening the heatsinks but it still happens.
any suggestions?
edit: read someone with the same problem had his fixed by loosening the screws to the heatsinks... i tried the same but now it has gotten much worse where it overheats 5 seconds within start up. =/
