well i remember reading something about some ex-Codemasters bloke that did this as rememberance of his trip back home from Germoney to Yugoslavia back in early 90s when Iron Curtain seased to be a problem (but not 100% sure)

I bet it SELLS well due to the spread of all these american car customization/restoration shows about rebuilding a piece of junk from the 50'ies and sell it for $70,000 (Counting Cars, Monster Garage, Graveyard Carz and so on).
