what the hell is up with people making acronyms out of everything now?
even on posts/pages your reading something that sounds somewhat intelligent and thought out..they toss in some sort of SMS shorthand crap..to me it just stands out like a sore thumb ruining the entire post down to some equivalent of some spastic 16yo texting his friends in math class...
these people do realize they have a fully functioning keyboard, with individual keys for each letter at their disposal...they aren't typing on a 1998 nokia cellphone..
really..like a post I was reading about the deline of moores law in the near future stating:
"moores law is still technically in effect, but sth along the lines of an amendment to it, to fit the current trends may B needed"
to me that just takes a statement that sounds as if its a valid and reasonably thought out message, and just rapes it, turning it into something less desirable to read than a youtube comment of the same typing standard.
now dont get me wrong..WTF OMG etc..I can stand,
(DIAF is another matter all together..if you wish that much harm on someone, put the effort into showing it by typing it out! and stop taking shortcuts).
I mean would anyone have taken Einstein seriously if he had a twitter account, and wanted to make a valid claim of the subject by going:
'look wat I hav 4 U i made!!! E=MC2 w00t i pwn physics!"
maybe its me in my old grumpy age...but even with me being about as big a tech geek as you can be...overly useless SMS online, and twitter shorthand rambling for example just make me loose all respect for the typist...

I find it much more annoying when people TRY to spell properly but fail miserably. Or when you get 17 lines of text without a SINGLE punctuation mark. Unfortunately, that often goes hand in hand with the people who are too lazy to type out a 5 letter word and turn it into a 3 letter...something.

or people that seems to assume that the more "?" you put in a question, the more urgently it gets a reply...
thats been a pet peeve of mine in mmos for years..like
DAVE: "where does the so and so drop?"
DAVE: "where does the so and so drop????"
DAVE: "where does the so and so DROP????!!"
like someones going to speak up and go "I didn't know at first, that's why I didn't reply..but your excessive use of punctuation has jarred my memory and I can now recall it"
it has the opposite effect on me, if they ask once, and I dont know I might go look it up.the more they append ? on the following ones being impatient, the less likely I am to respond.
or the point of "I did know that, but was busy fighting..but Im not even going to respond to tell him now"

But wait, shouldn't Einstein have written:
energy = mass * speed of light ^ 2
he had a perfectly working chalk, why not use it!? Instead he must go on and write e=mc2. It pisses me off so much that such a valid statement is now so useless with all the damn shortcuts!

Well actually you are right only if you neglect the relativistic effect, it's actually
E^2=(m_0c^2)^2+(pc)^2

Shortening posts with SMS style typing does come off as lower class, uneducated teenybop nonsense and can ruin a good argument/post.
