  • Publisher: None
  • Developer: MinMax Games
  • Genre: Top-down shooter, RPG, Indie
  • Release date: TBA
  • Story/Description:
    Quote:
Space Pirates and Zombies takes place far enough in the future that Earth has become a toxic backwater planet, so potentially not that far in the future. The galaxy has been colonized by humans, and the only means to travel to new star systems is through highly restricted and well defended warp gates. It is well known that systems closer to the galactic core become richer and richer as well as more scientifically advanced. This has led to theories of a secret system with a cache of treasure or knowledge at the galactic core feeding this growth. As a pirate, you must assemble a fleet and discover what treasure awaits you there.

Its actually awesome that we are seeing many GOOD games lately but its sad that million dollar companies arent doing those games and some dudes in basements are making these games. Indie devs are indeed the future!

I know, it's really lame IMO. Everything these days has "zombies" tacked on it when there is absolutely no reason for it. Pretty damn sad if you ask me especially since I've been a fan of zombie movies for as long as I can remember.

Who cares if they call them zombies or an alien race that eats and infects ships. The point is its part of the gameplay later on.

Gameplay itself looks very interesting. Long time since we had a decent spacebased shooter like that.

The demo is out right now, but grab it quick: http://www.spacepiratesandzombies.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=18

I'm not sure if its just the FTP that's going down or the demo itself, so hurry and grab it.

This game is all kinds of friggin' AWESOME. This is a Day1 purchase for me! ^_^

____

Ok, I've been playing this for 3hrs+ now and I'm having an absolute BLAST. 3hrs+ and the "demo" is still continuing? These are the kind of developers (all two of them, lol) that deserve every bit of support they can get. I'll purchase this game the instant they put up a payment link, make no mistake. Phenomenally fun game, reminds me heavily of Flat Space 2, Starscape and Space Rangers ..... awesome stuff.

Demo finally ends when you try and warp to your SECOND star system. Even then, it doesn't end as in "thanks for playing, now fuck off" dumping you back to the title screen/desktop .. it lets you carry on playing indefinitely. So if you just want to explore the first two star systems, taking on the random missions that pop, levelling yourself up and generally kicking all kinds of crap out of everyone; go for it!

Honestly, my experience with this demo so far has been nothing less than spectacular. If this is what those two developers call a "pre-alpha" - then I'm honestly scared what they might consider "beta" or even "gold" I think the very fabric of the world itself would tear asunder Laughing I didn't encounter a SINGLE bug, glitch, problem, issue, crash, stutter, spindle, mutilate or ANY kind of indication whatsoever that this is anything but a pure gold-status game that could be shipped right now.

DON'T PIRATE THIS FUCKING GAME. Two programmers, 18 months of work (so far), an indefinite lasting demo, ZERO glitches .. and it's not even out yet. Get the demo, play it, if you like it -- BUY IT.

I MIGHT buy it, if it's reasonably priced (read: <20€).

It's an indie title, the first from this studio, so odds are it will be priced anywhere between $15-25. I'd happily pay $30 for this =)
