I'm trying to install the latest Catalyst drivers on my laptop which has a ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3470 and as Sony sucks balls they have locked down driver support but didn't bother releasing a new driver!

I'm trying to use Mobility Modder but it doesn't seem to do anything.. it says its modded the driver but I have no idea how I then install it?

Any ideas?

It's not Sony, it's AMD sucking ass and agreeing to this bullshit.

Anyway, you need http://www.hardwareheaven.com/modtool.php . Point it to C:\ATI or C:\AMD where you have the drivers extracted and it will do its magic. Then start the driver installation again. Smile

Thanks Very Happy! I ended up using the drivers at the link below, it turns out I was moding it correctly all along (using the tool you pointed out) but inside of CCC for whatever reason it still says its using catalyst 9.2, but the driver version is 8.812 (11.1?)..

Anywho, thanks bud Very Happy

Not just AMD, NVIDIA as well. Both provide reference drivers for manufacturers who don't modify the chips PID and VID; MSI and IBM (the two brands I've owned myself Razz) for example don't do this. Dell, Sony, HP for example all do change those strings though. So the blame lies with those companies being dickheads.

Dell are the kings of this bullshit, luckily for Windows 7 you can rely on Microsoft's drivers for most hardware, but on Vostro's you still need a load of Dell's own bullshit to get the laptop to work properly Sad
