I am thinking (hoping) that it might be time for some good dvdscreeners of new movies. Last year we had none. The year before we had a couple of good ones. I haven't read anything about wether they are sending out dvd's to academy members this year or not. So, maybe they are. So far The life aquatic and Finding neverland have found their way out. The aquatic movie is very new, neverland slightly older but still to soon for a dvdscreener. Here's to hoping for an oscar season Smile

They have stopped sending them because of people copying them all the time. The Oscar commitie are tired of it Smile. The most important thing is that Retail dvdr gets out.

could have sworn they still allow screeners just with certain restrictions, i know that if a company wants to do them they can, and almost ALL independents will be...

Yeah they still allow regular screeners all the time. We're talking about Academy screeners. Ones for the Oscars.

to clarify what i said if it didn't make sense... i'm pretty sure it's up to company who produces the movie, independent productions almost always have oscar screeners as they want to maximize the visibility of their movies, because many of them might not have been seen... yeah im tired.

This oscars will suck badly. I didnt see ANY good movie that deserves an oscar this year (For best picture/best actor/actress).

About Hitman: Movie (2007)
Vin Diesel is a hardcore gamer, and absolutely loves the Hitman series. For that reason I have faith that he wont destroy the movie.

Response: Well, Uwe Boll probably loved the Alone in the Dark games.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind, Incredibles...

Haven't seen but heard Manchurian Candidate was good, Collateral, Hero (though I did not think this was as good as critics thought...), Passion of Christ, Dogville, Mystic River, Spartan, Spider-Man 2 (again, didn't think this was as good as the critics thought), Monster, Finding Neverland, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Ray... And more, some of these aren't oscar caliber, but you can't say the oscars will suck badly......

Eternal was crap. Nice ending tho
Incredibles/shrek 2 - best animation (NOt PICTURE)

Candidate - couldnt finish watching it
Collateral - good but not oscar good
Hero - .... wont even comment on this one
Passion Of The - I suffered more than jesus while watching this....
Dogville - 2002 ? isnt it ?
Mystic River - 2003 Neutral
Spartan - 2003 . Its crap anyways
Spider-man 2 - ? i really hope ur joking
Monster - 2003.
Finding Neverland - Johnny is WAY too overrated. but hey i didnt see it yet Neutral
Life Acustic - If it will be nominated for at least 1 AW i will quit my life.
Ray - best actor prolly ? didnt see it tho...

^^ You said some of those arent oscar calibers but, to tell the truth, i dont see ANY oscar caliber here! (tho i know Neverland / Ray will be nominated).

P.S. The nominees for Golden Globes are :
The Aviator
Closer
Finding Neverland
Hotel Rwanda
Kinsey
Million Dollar Baby
GGs Suck anyways. Last Year the oscar was pretty good tho i was disapointed by their "BEST PICTURE" decision.
Billy Crystal PWNZ!

Enteral was good and is Oscar worthy but not for Best Picture.
Incredibles was good but not Oscar worthy but it will probably win Best Animated Movie.
Candidate was good but not Oscar worthy.
Collateral was great and I think it's one of the best of the year.
Hero was made in 2002 and is a foreign movie.
Spider-Man 2 was good but not Oscar worthy (except for technical shit)
Didn't see Findng Neverland, Life Aquatic, or Ray (but I have Life Aquatic downloaded).

But seriously Griffon you're not the Academy and I'm glad cause you seem to be really picky on movies and not like most of them.

Also the ones you named for Best Picture were for Drama only. For Comdey/Musical it's:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The Incredibles
The Phantom of the Opera
Ray
Sideways

And how many of all the movies nominated for Best Picture have you seen? I rest my case.

ahh i forgot about sideways that movie is supposed to be excellent.

PS whats an oscar caliber movie? LOTR were shit (im a huge fan of the books, but he took out too much important stuff and changed WAY too much...)

Do good movies ever win? http://www.imdb.com/Sections/Awards/Golden_Globes_USA/

look at the list I see like NO good movies in the past 10 years, it's ALL subjective. Critics are sometimes right in my opinion... but generally not.

I'm sorry but i dont know whats nominated (For AWs).
I saw Neverland today, good movie, great movie.
Well if i were one of the academy guys Chicago wouldnt win, belive me!
Eternal as a comedy ? hmmm it looked to me like a drama.
I though it sucked badly, and i cant see how can anyone like it....

Yeah the last two years the Academy just seemed to pick the popular one. I didn't see Chicago and don't really want to but it was getting a lot of buzz around that time. And with LOTR there was a ton of hype so of course it was gonna win. I thought Mystic River should of won for last year.

well anyone seen 'birth' ? the movies sucked big time. So i started watching with my eyes closes... and the music was damn good. Maybe just because i was so bored i started liking the sound, but i dont think so.

Any nominees known for best soundtrack?

Don't forget Million Dollar Baby. That got released recently. I watched it over the weekend and thought it was great movie and so far the best of the year. I have The Aviator burned but haven't watched it yet. Probably Friday night. Now I just want a Sideways dvdscr and I'll be happy.

chicago was the most recent one for me (watched it over break for the first time), and many many more. critics should die for making me watch that steaming pile of...
