Developer: Gaming Minds Studios
Website:
Release Date: 26 Jan, 2018

About:

United States, 1830: 'The New World' is in its ascendancy. Industry is booming, and the race is on to establish the most dominant and powerful rail empire in all of North America. It’s time to outthink and outmaneuver your competitors as you lead your company into the 20th century!

In "Railway Empire", you will create an elaborate and wide-ranging rail network, purchase over 40 different trains modelled in extraordinary detail, and buy or build railway stations, maintenance buildings, factories and tourist attractions to keep your travel network ahead of the competition. You'll also need to hire and manage your workforce if you want to ensure an efficient train service, whilst also develop over 300 technologies ranging from mechanical improvements to the trains themselves to workplace infrastructures and advanced amenities as you progress through five eras of technological innovations.

However, you can't just build and research your way to the top - the competition never sleeps, and to keep your business on track you'll have to survive against up to three rival tycoons. To get to the top you may have to resort to more cutthroat tactics as you attack and sabotage your opponents through raids and industrial espionage.

Played it from late night till... Now. I managed to crush the AI easily in the end. Once you get the mechanics, it's smooth sailing (or should I say, "rolling" J Browman ).

It's pretty fun, the mechanics are not that complex, yet it has its charms.
The UI, gfx's and controls are fluid and on point.
You play by period, with differents periods having different techs but also ressources, of course.
It's nice to fine tune your network and see it run like clockwork.
Do not expect a historical sim though.
Tech tree and finance aspect (shares, bonds, etc...) are basic and a bit lackluster, but they make do.

IN SHORT: Fun game. Give it a try if you like the genre Everything Went Better Than Expected

It's a lot like "Sid Meier's Railroads", very simplistic. Only played the EA tho.

I can't understand the point of this game without multiplayer.

Everyone says the AI cheats and all their trains are on easy mode meaning they can just drive through each other on the tracks so they don't have to build a proper railway line.

Sid Meier's railroads seems better.

Anyway,

Transport Fever is Miles ahead of this game.

It's okay but nothing special. I hope they continue to support it because currently there's not a lot of changes since the beta.

OpenTTD is still king.

So finally got around to play the first chapter (V.1.2) and I still don't like it. It's very casual. Also, the track building is just horrible. Maybe I missed something, but when you switch from a single track for example to a double track, you have to remove mostly everything and good luck adding crossings etc. that makes sense. It's just so much work lol. More frustrating than anything.
