Played up to 3.0 or so now.. definitely well written and with a nice atmosphere, though some of the platforming mechanics feel kind of forced. It's like you've figured out what to do, but it still requires a tiresome amount of manipulations to carry it out.

Essentially yes, but it never got really tiresome for me since the levels are short enough for the game to work.
...and with playing up to 3.0 you've only just scratched the surface of the clever writing.
