have u plugged it into the rear usb port not the front ones , it has to be in the back , and the grey lead is not for the kinect, thats if you have a wireless adapter to enable the wifi adpter to be plugged in the front usb port, the kinect should allready have a black usb lead plugged into the pass through

yeah i figured the grey lead is an extesion for the wifi. The Kinect is plugged into the back USB, and the mains lead light is on.
Still asking for a system update and still a red light on the front of the Kinect!

ok I've noticed in the Kinect Settings that the Sensor is set to OFF. If you try to switch it on, it insists on an Update, which I can't do, and it won't do from the game disc.
God this is screwed, is anyone else having a problem with the Kinect Beta dash?

When i plugged mine in it had to update on live , i dont have a modded 360 so it was connected to live to get the update, so there might be a live update for it, also on another note i have noticed that if i use a profile that has never had xbox live the profile cant be used to play kinect, it has to be a profile that has at one point had xbox live

well since mine is banned, it was on live at one time, I can't connect to get an update.
There a lot of people who have never had Live, so I wouldn't expect that to be a problem.
The only thing i can think of is that there is some change between the Beta dash and the PAL firmware update, if indeed their is one on the game disc.
I'm thinking the console checks to see if the dash is present, and won't bother updating from the disc, since it thinks it's already installed.
If I could just get the dash to switch on the sensor?
Can't think of anything else, unless of course I've got a floosie Kinect unit?

i had the knect dash update a few days ago when i turned the xbox on after a few weeks untouched and So far ive had a prompted update today when i plugged the kinect in and also had seperate updates for all 3 kinect games i have played, so it seems there is some sort of update for the kinect aside from the game updates, and like you say you could have a duff unit

Strange question... but why don't you just update? MS should have the offline dashboard update on their site by now, so why not download it and stick it on a USB stick for updating? Or is there a reason you're insistent on staying with the beta dash?
