Is there anyway to get opera-like email client for Chrome?

I finally got tired with opera crashing on the webpages I visit regularly and decided to change... only to realize that Chrome doesn't come with an email client.

I'm using a GMX e-mail so those 'g-mail clients' wont do any good for me.

chrome extensions are entirely made in javascript, so i doubt there are any actual clients

mozilla thunderbird is a capable free email client you could give a try
i use gmail myself so i'm happy with the (unofficial) extension for it
