In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a man who believes he has put his mysterious past behind him and dedicated himself to beginning a new, quiet life. But when McCall meets Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters, he can't stand idly by - he has to help her. Armed with hidden skills that allow him to serve vengeance against anyone who would brutalize the helpless, McCall comes out of his self-imposed retirement and finds his desire for justice reawakened. If someone has a problem, if the odds are stacked against them, if they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.
Based on the classic, and frankly fucking awesome, 80s series with Edward Woodward () a retelling/remake is coming out this year and it looks great! I don't even care that an old white guy is now an old black guy because Denzel is kick-ass.
Eminem also has a track in the film, he's been promoting it quite a bit, but personally I just want to hear a remix (or even just a nod.. give us that at least, Sony/Village Roadshow!) of the original theme
I guess I already know the answer to this but how does the film compare to Leon?
Leon still great, this not so much, alot of stupid and ridiculous stuff happened
Good action flick but that's about it, Men on Fire still miles better, oh and this one is cheesy as hell
Ok for one watch
It was like watching an alternate version of " Home Improvement" in which Tim Taylor went batshit crazy (and ofc was black).
Some crazy kills in there. Story wasnt the best , but who cares .
Spoiler:
It also pulled an Bryan Cranston @ Godzilla, with Chloe Moretz. I mean she was the main reason for him to get back in buisness, and shes left out for almost the whole movie.
Well while Taken maybe doesn't have Denzel it was still more rational than this, with more or less realistic and more believable script and actions, besides it had Liam there so all was to be expected
most wtf moments were when
Spoiler:
he goes hand to hand with someone who is twice bigger, younger, stronger wears bp west, then blows up half the shop just to kill one guy and i'm sure there were many other parts, like when he came to Moscow while happens to be black, didn't raise any red flags, i'm sure Pushkin was connected with all that cash, infiltrated his compound which was heavily secured, during the daylight, killed all Pushikin's guards without raising any alarms, lets net forget perfectly planned that the other guy was taking a shower, yeah sure
there is more but my head hurts so bad after this, i just can't be bothered to remember rest of this fiasco, again i didn't turn my brain off because Denzel was in it and perhaps expected way too much from this popcorn flick, which could be easily produced by mentioned above infamous MB
I loved it. Anyone comparing this to Taken has no idea what they are talking about. Much better actors here.
"Anyone comparing this to Taken has no idea what they are talking about."
"Much better actors here."
Liam Neeson worked the ex-spec ops hitman/superman role way better in Taken than Denzel did here. Moretz was in this movie for 5-10 minutes. Which other acting performances captured your attention so much anyway? The fat security guard's mother? Russian mobster #25? Who?
They made this movie with the deepest desire to achieve something close to the original Taken, motivated by the most sincere damsel in distress scenario. Wannabe Taken.
You should bend the knee for Liam Neeson and let him kick you right in the face.
