At the heart of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is a suite of connected features called Need for Speed Autolog that enables players to connect, compare and compete with their friends effortlessly. Quote: |
- Career - For the first time in Need for Speed history, players will experience the gripping and heart-racing action of both cops and racers. Hot Pursuit seamlessly links a tremendously deep and fully-defined single player career with a groundbreaking multiplayer experience across all race modes. In the end, whether playing online with friends, taking on friends challenges or the single player career, players will earn bounty that levels them up and unlocks new cars, weapons and equipment.
- Need For Speed Autolog - In Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, your friends drive your gameplay experience. Need for Speed Autolog is a revolutionary system that connects friends directly to each other's games, enabling them to compare and share all their experiences, pictures and challenges. Need for Speed Autolog instinctively delivers challenges based on what your friends have been doing, creating a hugely dynamic, socially competitive experience.
- Weapons and Equipment - Enhance the intensity of the pursuit using multiple weapons as the heat level increases during a pursuit. Whether taking down suspects with a variety of cop weapons or using evasion equipment as a racer to outsmart the cops, players will always have a method for gaining an edge over their opponent.
- Cars - In Hot Pursuit, the cars go from hot to hotter. Experience the thrill of driving the world's most desirable high performance cars at incredible speeds. Feel the power of busting suspects in supercharged cop interceptors like the Lamborghini Reventon or outsmarting the law as a racer in high performance supercars like the Pagani Zonda Cinque.
- Seacrest County - Explore a world as diverse as the California coastline with desert, forest, seaside and mountainous regions. The open world of Seacrest County is designed to create the most intense pursuit experiences ever found in a racing game.

Yes I have very high hopes.
I wonder if the PSN demo will be ripped and uploaded to the net...
I loved the original HP - was so much fun but we're talking like 10 years ago now!

The only thing that i`m a bit afraid of is that it still will have open world, NFS HP and High Stakes where for me the Need For Speeds back in the old days, but if the game is really cool and give at least a 90% feeling from the good old days then its a winner for me.

Don't expect this to be a follow-up to the old NfS games, videos shown so far suggest a gameplay somewhere between Burnout 2 and Burnout 3.

I expected nothing less than a similar experience to Burnout.

I would love that! Most Wanted was my favorite NFS in years. I'm really excited for this one, I really hope they have fixed the engine at this point though. It seems like once you progressed in the game and started going super fast. You would outrun the draw distance and totally lose a race as a result.

IGN wrote: | True to Criterion's last effort, the hugely impressive Burnout Paradise, Need for Speed Hot: Pursuit is an open world racer – but this world is much more expansive, taking in 100s of miles of road |

From what I understood it isn't "open" like Paradise City but more like a set of single tracks that intersect each other to form a big world. While you race an event you don't need to pause the game before every corner to look at the map like you did in Paradise City.
Also the demo is one of the most moronic demos ever. Criterion decided to reduce the framerate to 30fps to improve the graphics quality, but the demo event takes place at night - when you don't see much of the graphics.
A second event is included as well, one that showcases what the engine is capable of, but it is locked unless you have an XBL friend who played the demo as well. Look at the second video here to see what this event looks like: http://www.gamersyde.com/news_nfs_hot_pursuit_video_of_the_demo-10128_en.html
Why didn't they make this event the default one? Do they want to minimize their sales?
Anyway, it looks very close to Burnout 2. After being let down by the mediocre default event yesterday I'm hyped again.

No split-screen and no customization, that's quite disappointing... oh well, it's still gonna be a decent racer.

original NFS series did'nt have customization.
It's all the tuning themed NFS games which made people always complain about it for not being in there.
Ok they could have added mechanical customizations, but since its mostly sports cars i don't see a reason for it.
