The movie finished post-production this month with no release date in sight.
From the looks of it, the director is really trying to make a good adaptation, he was open to advice on who to cast as Heather.
These are not official stills, just production photos.
I think the first movie is the best videogame adaption so far, visually it was perfect, it had the detail, the color grading, everything was perfect, Christophe Gans showed his love for the series but the script was pretty shitty, up until the story actually start the movie was pretty good.
Revelantions's director liked the visuals of the first movie too so according to him he tried to get most of the crew back for the second one.
Whoa whoa whoa... hold on a minute, this is the DIRECT sequel to Silent Hill? Sean Bean and Radha Mitchell are both returning?? AWESOME! The first film was absolutely the very best videogame adaptation I've ever seen, so I'm definitely looking forward to #2 -- even more so knowing the original cast are back. Don't get me wrong, I knew the sequel was coming.. I just didn't know the original cast was returning

Realy? I mean yeah, the beginning was so awesome (almost directly 1:1 from SH1) but then it couldn't keep up the awesomeness anymore. But you're still right. Of all those awful videogame adaptations it was propably the best one
Could have been alot better nonetheless since we're talking about SH here. SH1 is still is one of the most scary and athmospheric games ever for me
I wish someone in the video game industry would get serious about film adaptions and just hand "Silent Hill" to David Fincher or Darren Aronofsky and be done with it.
and theyd still come out with a shit product. you have competent directors taking on a different genre and this is what they come up with. SH1 movie was epic. the director was epic. simples. you have yet another competent director working on a movie based on the boardgame battleship. srsly? arronofsky would ruin silent hill. he'd make it artsy fartsy and MTV with a touch of seriousness and it wouldn't get nowhere near as visually epic as what Gans did with SH1. And fincher, oh yes, fincher would be perfect for a 3 hour movie based on a video game. it would be a long epic story, it'll look epic, it'll have epic acting but it'll have very little to do with the silent hill games. Next someone will mention Burton. ugh.
And besides video game movies barely make any money. If it were to be done by fincher it'd have to be a game like Maniac Mansion. And Aronofsky would be perfect for Leisure Suit Larry.

The entire original trilogy on the PS1/PS2 had an "artsy fartsy" poetic storyline with a touch of seriousness. And if "The Fountain" isn't a visually epic film, I don't know what is. That idiot Gans wasn't even competent enough to put Harry Mason in "Silent Hill". And Pyramid Head in Cheryl's story? Really?
Elias E Mehrige would be the best choice ever, not that Christophe Gans did a bad job, by far.. he really showed his love for the the series by doing his part, too bad he didn't write the script.
Begotten with some Akira Yamaoka work really really well.
