I just saw the GT Review and now I am really looking forward to this game.

I didn't really notice this game before, but it looks like a Zelda game and seems to be really fun! I am definitely going to check this game out when it comes out Smile

I like most of the stuff published by Atlus but I'm not very fond of zelda so not sure yet if I'll pick this up...

"Amazon.com Product Description
From the makers of the award winning Demon’s Souls"

and another product description of the game:

"Brought to you by the makers of “Demon Souls” From Software is about to drop yet another obscure, odd, mold breaking RPG. "

from the FAQ on the official Page:
"Q: ISnt this game developed by the same people who did Demon's Souls? That game was HARD! Is this game HARD!?
A: Whoa, that two questions! Yes FromSoftware is the developer responsible for the award winning Demons Souls! That being said, thy worked hard to make sure the normal difficulty would be adequately challenging for the average gamer. . . "

from the bottom of the official web page:
"© 2009, 2010 FromSoftware, Inc. Licensed to and published by Atlus U.S.A., Inc."

from software developed demon's souls themselves, but from software is also a publisher and is publishing 3d dot game heroes in japan, which is developed by silicon studio.

at least that's how it is according to wikipedia.

Different publishers for different regions, but it's still the same devs (Silicon Studios).
Btw. this game is also coming out at a "reduced" price of like ~30pounds, so I already preordered it. Very Happy
There are also a lot of inside jokes in the game about other games than Zelda and it doesn't take itself too seriously.

Sooooo... it's out now. Tons of copies floating around on eBay for a pretty good price (generally around £28 or so) Anyone played it yet? Thinking about picking it up, along with Demon's Souls and Heavy Rain, in the next couple weeks.

Yeah played through it .
It's a good game I would give it sth. around 8.2.
There is room for improvement and two or three times I was annoyed by design choices.
- Missable stuff
- Dungeon layout of the fire temple

Overall if you liked the old school Zelda titles go and get this, you won't regret it.
There are a lot of "sidequests" which involve running around a lot but luckily you can buy warp wings to teleport from town to town.

Awesome, thanks guys - definitely picking this up then. I love the oldschool Zelda games (NES and the excellent SNES LttP) so this looks right up my alley =)

=Edit=

£24.99 on Zavvi. GREAT STUFF!

The growing weapon thing really turns me off, looks stupid as fuck... So how much of an impact in the game is the growing weapon? Is it there often? If it's like a rare powerup or something I could handle that.. but if it's a major gameplay factor then fuck this game. ;p

The full grown wpn is only there if you are at full health. So depending on how good you are, it's either there always or as good as never Very Happy

There are also ALOT of different sword (a fish and a baseball bat come to mind) and you can use money to upgrade them in:
power, length, width, spin, special, beam ...

If the oversized wpn turns you off I dunno if the game is for you. When you play it you kinda want to stay at full health so that you CAN use it because you feel really powerful when you got it and really weak when you don't.

The game isn't super hard but I died a couple of times.

My savegame says 17:xxh.
So I would say maybe 15h if you don't do the sidequests and 20h if you do them all. Maybe more if you are the exploring type of player.

I missed a couple sidequests at the beginning since I started playing without using a guide. Sad
After reading a bit on the gamefaqs I decided to follow the guide so that I don't miss anything anymore.

The stuff you can miss is mostly swords or some heart/magic containers and well funny stories.

After you played through the game there is a hard mode.
And if that isn't hard enough for you there is Spelunker mode where you die in 1hit. Smile

Guess I will never get a Plat. trophy for this game :/

Some pretty impressive info-stroke-leaking here guys;

3D Dot Game Heroes BLUS30490 V101-SEGATASANSHIRO
segata-3ddotu101.rar 177MB

Quote:

.,==. This is the 1.01 update for 3D Dot Game Heroes NTSC-U ... .....
..,==. it is currently unreleased, Atlus denies it exists. ... .....
.. Install the package and enjoy! ..

-------------------------------------------

Changlog

*The ultimate 3D dot hessian sack hero, Sackboy(tm), arrives in your
gallery to save Dotnia Kingdom!
Courtesy of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

*New character models created by and for the fans have been added!
A special thank you to all the dot designers who contributed!

*Motti has begrudgingly admitted that Dash Race was too hard.
The required completion times have been adjusted.

*Certain swords will now carry over in New Game+.
It was too dangerous to go alone.

*Are there some holes in your Loading Art gallery?
Specifically, images #70 through #105? Sorry about that!
The art will now appear randomly, and upon being viewed, be displayed
in the gallery.
(The Loading Art option must be turned ON.)

Works ONLY on the NTSC version, not the EU, but also - happily - works on the jailbreak copy as well as the retail BD.

Quote:

note that this only works with the US version of the game, there is no patch available for the EUR version, and trying to shoehorn this patch to work wth the EUR version turned out to be a complete disaster. The problem is that the european version ends all the lua filenames with .eu, while the US version ends filenames with .eng. Trying to do a simple replace all on the eboot didn't work unfortunately

Should work with both retail and backups.

This game sucks balls big time, what a load of shit. I bought it and got rid of it quick.

You can get this in Asda for £20, unless you like childish humour, shitty graphics for the sake of bing shit and a game trying to be retro but failing then buy this travesty of a game where for every one stamped onto a blu ray is an insult to blu ray technology.

Just been playing this for a couple hours and I'm sorry, but are you guys on crack? It's TONS of fun! If you "hate" this then you hate the original Zelda titles because they're pretty much identical. Simple as that Very Happy

I don't see the graphics as "shitty trying to be retro" - I think they're lovely. Everything is smooth and detailed and the very IDEA of the game being rendered in oversized pixels is just super cute. The visuals actually remind me very strongly of Minecraft, though more professionally done (for obvious reasons)

I'm loving it so far, so I guess it's each to their own Very Happy

Exactly. So why cares that this is basically a ripoff of Zelda? Zelda games were great, and they just don't make games like that anymore.
So why not have fun with this?

I've read several times about problems with the JB release of this game. Supposedly it works the first time you play it but if you want to play it again later you only get a black screen until you delete your savegame. You don't have such problems?
