Umm... I don't think you've got quite the right idea about XLink. XLink lets you play console games over the internet, functioning as if they WERE on a LAN. You can't play console games on your PC via XLink. Not to my knowledge at least :\ The software runs on your PC allowing your console to connect to the internet and play against others, but you still play ON your console -- the PC only acts as the medium for transferring the data online.
yeah it's just confusing.
I do believe though that he's just looking for something like xlink.
As far as I know xlink is the best of it's kind. I'm not sure if there's an alternative out there but xlink is probably the one that is used the most, and as such should have the most players, which is probably what you're looking for.
