Up until recently Ive had no issue with sound but now I do and its driving me mad!

Basically if I boot the PC up, I get Windows 7 jingle which displays the profiles to login.

I log in and I get another windows sound as it logs on.

Sound works for approximately 20 seconds and then cuts out as if something else is using the audio.

I have tested this by rebooting the pc, logging into Windows, opening the sounds section and constantly pressing play on one of the Windows sounds. It will constantly play the sound until about 20 seconds later and then pressing the play button on the sound produces no sound from the speaker.

Everything looks good in the device manager.

Its not a speaker issue as I can hear sound coming from them.

As soon as I reboot the PC, I instantly get sound everytime until about 20 seconds after logging on, then I get no sound on any application.

Ive tried reloading the drivers but other than reloading Windows, Im not sure what else I can do!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So you've reinstalled windows? Because if sth like that was happening to me (in conjunction with that other problem), I'd back up important things and format the damn thing...

I think reinstalling Windows is the best thing I can do. Its just a pain to back everything up and was to be my absolute last resort, mainly because I dont have time.

I will make time and reinstall Windows. Its obviously the best thing to do, especially if my system has been compromised by anything malicious!
