When asked if its mistake on Xbox Live was to assume Microsoft would let Valve update its games more often, Newell said:
"We thought that there would be something that would emerge, because we figured it was a sort of untenable... Oh yeah, we understand that these are the rules now, but it's such a train wreck that something will have to change.

I don't want to look like I'm "trolling" but IMO,Xbox live is over priced, and limited
Online on PC is SO match better.

You're half right, 50-60$/year is a bit too much, I agree (especially if you live in a country where the average wage is 200-300$ - like I do), BUT, as a ex gold user, xbox live is still the best online service to date, in terms of server, content and the overall online experience. At least as far as consoles go.

tbh I hate the fact that console games are now plagued with patches, in the old days console games (especially a+) ones worked, now its patch after patch with some games, like some PC games.
Gabe is no doubt pissed off that he cant push a 2gig patch, because Microsoft limit the file size for patch's.
Of the console online gaming Xbox Live is the best system, its not faultless, but its a shite site better than PSN or the Wii one.

I find it kind of funny that Gabe was slagging off the PS3 for years, now suddenly he's jumped ship back to PS3 .. and now slagging off the 360. The man's an idiot.

I think it's obvious it's for better PS3 marketing...

i was also a fan until they stopped making half life games. Yes, i believe they have a full stop at half-life until i see evidence proving the crontrary.

Well, as an X360, PS3 and gaming PC owner, I must say that Live is my preferred online gaming platform. Even though it's slightly overpriced.
Watercooled 5950X | AORUS Master X570 | Asus RTX 3090 TUF Gaming OC | 64Gb RAM | 1Tb 970 Evo Plus + 2Tb 660p | etc etc

Not to support Live or the large amount of idiot users it has, but this is the same Gabe which said the PS3 is a total disaster, and then went 180°. I guess Sony is paying now, so he'll say anything to please anyone throwing cash at his fat ass. Pretty much like another petty sellout, John Carmack.

Thats not a particularly valid argument. You don't think games were buggy before online patching existed? Perhaps because online patching didn't exist. Have developers gotten "lazy" knowing they can patch a game in the future (for those who actually pay to get online) - perhaps.

The only thing I like about Xboxlive is some of the games you can get that you cant on PSN, apart from that in my oppinion is overpriced and overatted compaired to PSN.

I accept that games have always had bugs, and that given the larger games we get (some of the time) today, bugs are inevitable, however with this current generation of games on consoles (especially) I personally have seen quite a few games that have chronic gamebreaking bugs, and not little minor things, such was the case (again my opinion) with previous console generations.
Maybe I am playing more games (although I think I am playing less) but with the option to patch games, a lot (IMO) seem to be rushed out with the attitude of "Hey well we can fix that later"
