You people should be ashamed of yourselves, no topic for P4?

Anyways, this game is pure gold, and hundreds of hours long.

Came out a year ago in Japan, few months ago in US an Eu.

Couldn't agree more. Devil Summoner 2 is another great recent PS2 RPG. No topic for that either because everyone cares about graphics and shooters on consoles nowadays. Sad but true Sad

Began to play it, but it felt really slow. Alot of talk and...well, not much happening. I did like the style, that it was set in modern times japan smalltown. Also remember being sucked into a tv.

Heard only good things about it though and am willing to give it another try.

Well, that's what keeps alot of people from playing the Persona games although they just are awesome (and pretty time consuming Very Happy).
There's a lot of stuff going on outside the story line like the whole Social Link stuff (which in turn helps you in fights ... in a way) and I have to admit that at times it feels more like one of those japanese date simulation games but it's still alot of fun, imo the story is pretty epic (like it was in Persona 3 which I still have to play as well).
Btw one element of Persona 3's combat one just has to love? The "Evoker" a freaking gun like thing people aim at their head and pull the trigger. That's so ridiculously stupid it's just funny again Rolling Eyes
I just wish my PC was able to handle PS2 emulation but oh well, I got a dazzle capture device, that should work (because a couple of weeks ago I tried playing some PS2 game on my 32" LCD TV and it just looked terrible... Laughing)

I'm playing it through right now, with PCSX2. Works flawlessy, except from some graphical glitches, but they're pretty rare.

Personally, I like how it's not all just combat. The dialogue is well written and often funny, so I enjoy listening to it.

You should be ashamed for not searching thoroughly Laughing

I blame the horrible search function. I tried Persona 4, and Shin Megami Tensei, but it didn't find anything cause of the underscores.

This game deserves a newer thread anyways.

PS2 emulation isn't that great. Better play on a PS2 with lower res but perfectly, than to play with emu on higher res with glitches and bugs. You just need to hook up that PS2 to a quality CRT and it'll look fantastic Smile

Well, it's not like I have a bunch of CRTs lying around here Laughing
That's why I'll hook my PS2 on the screen I use on my PC, it's only 19" so it shouldn't look to bad Very Happy

Agree. Razz

Played alot of persona 3 on the psp and finally gave this another go. It´s great.

Started playing all kinds of megaten games now btw.

Just got a package with devil summoner 1 and 2, persona 3 and 4. Lucifers call (nocturne) before that. PS2 bonanza! Only games missing now is devil summoner 1 and 2. Both burned, but just not the same thing.

Don´t even like jrpg´s, but the gloomy/dark/twisted setting in these games coupled with demons has me hooked!

Anyone else still into shin megami games?

Here´s a pretty awesome site, covering the shits:

I played quite a ways through my emulated game, but having lost the save, and forgotten what settings worked I'm hoping instead that it's eventually ported to PSP or maybe even PS3 before I get stuck in again.
