in some games (heroes of newerth, blood bowl come to mind right now) the mouse cursor gets corrupt sometimes when moving it into the lower right edge of the screen. sometimes it is fixed by moving it back there quickly, but sometimes it stays corrupt. the corruption looks like severe distortion of the cursor, with lines running through it, big black blocks appearing next to it etc. from what i have heard the problem is caused by the ati gfx card.

the cursor only becomes corrupt on my main screen, the one i play games on. moving it over to the other screen it is perfect as usual.

currently the fix i am using is to just run the magnifier program in the background; but i would like a more 'graceful' solution to the problem. i have heard that the reason magnify (or turning on cursor trail) can fix the corruption is because it changes the cursor rendering from hardware to software, or something of the kind. i am not very familiar with the inner workings of windows 7 Smile

so, long story short, is there any way to achieve what turning cursor trails on / running magnifier does, without actually doing these things?

Re-install graphic card drivers\update to latest. If still fails, run virus, clean registry, disable all items from startup and test. If still a problem, re-install windows. I never heard or had this issue before.

looking around on the net theres many people with the same problem, all with ati cards. i have a friend who has a 4870 and he also has it, less often than me though (i have a 5770). might be more often for me because i use multiple monitors (many people who report this problem say they are running on a multi-monitor setup). reinstalling drivers or windows doesnt help, since i had this problem before last format and still have it, and there have been multiple driver updates since then.

noone has been able to think of a better solution than running magnifier or enabling pointer trails, neither of them is a very good solution though. thats why i come here to see if the elite nfohumpers can think of something better Wink
