I'm kinda angry and depressed, I won't live to see what happens next, in human life. Sad

As a child I read sci-fi books, imagined how when I grow up, we will fly to the stars. Now all grown up, I realise I may never personally see space, or even hear of a human habitat on/around another planet/satellite. Crying or Very sad

You can consider yourself lucky, the human kind is a perfect self-destruction mechanism Wink

if it makes you feel any better, we'll probably wipe ourselves out before we even make it out into deep space... its kinda one of those 'well if i cant have it, atleast no one else can' kinda deals Very Happy that line of thinking helps cheer me up atleast!

Space is overrated anyway, gas giants, rocky fields and burning balls. humanity won't survive long in it and FTL speeds are necessary for such travel however they seem a bit far fetched
we were born on this planet, we will eat away all its resources like a bad case of caries before its starts rotting away and killing us all.

Saw a documentary about extending human life where one scientist was pretty optimistic about the possibility of immortality during our lifetime. Apparently its doable although I dont remember the details.
So who knows, maybe we'll all run around on mars when we're 400 years old skating on an old meter crater.

oh sure immortality is possible during our lifetime. just not for us common folk.

nah but seriously... immortality? not buying it. i think our best hope is robot bodies and preservation of our 'beings' in a digital format. of course, thats going to fuck us up when it comes to reproducing, but whatever... small price to pay to live long enough to score with hot blue alien chicks.

as for me, im holding on to the hope that i later in life discover that i am actually an immortal godlike being placed on this earth to be its protector (or destroyer) yet have lost my memories.

Immortality in human form... not likely. Entropy is a bitch and you can't beat that. But we'll probably find the means to put our brains into some robot container and live out our life.

I for one could totally live with some kind of mechanic replacement for lower tract. I'm lactose intolerant and drinking milk fucks me up. but if I had mechanical stomach and bowls I'd be free to eat anything.

And we would solve obesity problem... If there is too much fat, you just empty that container and move on Very Happy

I won't comment that last part grinhurt

I'd say that is lame, but since it includes the names of two AWESOMESAUCE metal bands, I just can't bring myself to do it.

@FireMaster

You forgot the hot space nymphos, the real reason for man's desire to explore space.

Well it probably was very lame to say that but speaking of artists, artists die twice, the first death is when they die (duh) and the second one when none admires their work any more.

Don't be ridiculous! There's no such thing as Borg. Not now, not ever, because mankind has reached the roof on technological advances... so we'll never colonise other planets or live in space! The only thing mankind has ever done is destroy the earth! Science is crap, tons of physicists have said so and now we've hit the roof! Stop dreaming of Borg!!!
We've hit the roof!!!
THE ROOF!! THE ROOF IS ON FIRE, I SAY!!!!

all will be good.

p.s:
yeah realizing that we'll never see space or humankind living on another planet? Sucks major balls.
I think most of us grew up with sci-fi novels/show/movies so we all hoped for something more... futuristic by now.
But I say it's all the catholics fault.
Seen an interesting picture couple of weeks ago.
Showed scientific progress in a bar diagramm and guess where there was none at all? Dark middle ages. When catholicism ruled the fucking world...
