I am about to buy an Iphone, but I need help finding the right contract.
I need to know, how much traffic an Iphone produces. Of course this depends heavily on what you do with it, but maybe you can help me nontheless.

I can get a contract with 200MB/month, after that GPRS speed (speak: unusable).
I won't download any apps or so with that, for that I have WLAN. The Iphone would mostly be used for E-Mail/Surfing/IM.

Is there an option in the Iphone to see how much traffic has been used? Maybe you could tell me how much traffic you have per month or how much your contract allows you.

200mb/month!? Is that all?!

I assume you mean data usage?

Im with UK provider o2 and my iPhone 4 is currently unlimited but from October it will be limited to 750mb/month.

You can check the data usage on the iPhone in settings.

As long as you remember to reset it at the beginning of the month, it should be accurate.

I know that 200MB is not much, but contracts with 1GB or more cost much more than those with only that small amount of traffic.
I could get a contract for 35€/month and get a 3GS for free with 200MB/month (after that only GPRS speed), plus a UMTS-Stick for my notebook with a flatrate.
A contract with 5GB/month would cost at least 400€ more in 2 years...

As long as you're not streaming videos you should be fine Smile

So I decided to import an Iphone 4 from the UK for 600€ and then use the available flatrate with my prepaid card for 15€/5GB.
