-update- Nintety.Nine.Nights.2.USA-XBOX360 OUT NOW
and yeah, it really is "Nintety". The name is correct in the nfo but the foldername seems to have that typo so consider that when you can't find it.
At the Konami E3 press conference, the lead producer of the series, Tak Fujii noted that the sequel has been vastly improved technically allowing hundreds of enemy soldiers to be present on screen in one shot. Fujii promised the game contains a million new features but due to time restrictions he was only allowed to divulge a few with the press. Some of the main changes the sequel introduces include an online co-op mode, leader-boards and brand new difficulty levels which make the game even harder. In addition to these changes Fujii announced that the game will further build on the Hack and slash gameplay implemented in the previous game thus making it now an 'extreme' Hack and slash title.
well, you can make it pal but you can only play it with a jtag 360. I'm playing it on my pal 360 right now actually.
unfortunately there won't ever be a way to change game region codes that would work on just a flashed dvd drive firmware.
Likot Mosuskekim, Woodcutter cancels Sleep: Interrupted by Elephant.
so I played for 2-3 hours and it's fun. the attack moves look great and the sound is awesome.
I'll have to play some more though and see if there's enough diversity later on with more characters and skills. looks promising at least.
it's still just pretty repetitive hack&slash, so people who didn't like the first one or other similar games like dynasty warriors will probably not enjoy this game too much.

I would think that the co-op would be a huge addition to the game, I doubt most JTAG'ers go online though.
Are you going to be able to play the co-op at all?
How is the draw distance? I liked Dynasty Warriors on the PS2, even with the enemy pop-ins, but on the 360 I just could not stand it anymore. Was especially bad in coop.

Thanks for the tip, I really hated Dynasty Warriors.

How is it here?
draw distance is good from what I've seen so far. There's no enemies popping up and disappearing next to you like in dynasty warriors or viewdistance limiting fog at all.
from a graphical standpoint it's vastly superior to dynasty warriors 6.

thanks a lot, I will keep an eye out for the PAL release then
How much RPG element we're talking here and how much is hack-en-slash?
well I guess I was wrong in calling it RPG elements because it's pretty much limited to having different characters, each with their own missions and improving those characters.
there's no dialogue that you can influence or anything as far as I can tell and I'm not sure yet if the story is any good.
the character progression works like this:
you earn orbs by defeating enemies, collecting chests in missions and whenever you finish a mission you get bonus orbs depending on the objectives you finished. There seem to be several optional objectives in each mission.
so once you have enough orbs you can spend them on several things. it's similar to demon's souls' system in that these orbs are used for everything (but you can't lose them like in demon's souls :P).
You level up your character which improves HP, you level up your weapons which improves damage and you level up equippable accessories which I will explain in a moment.
each character has their own orb pool but leveling up an accessory on one character doesn't seem to level it up for the others as well.
so about the accessories...you have 4 slots for active accessories and each accessory gives you a specific spell to use in battle. you also have 4 slots for passive accessories which provide passive bonuses to your character, such as shortening the duration of status ailments or increasing magic attack power.
this allows you to customize your character to your playstyle as there seem to be quite a lot of skills.
leveling up those accessories with orbs levels up the skill they provide, increasing damage of the spell, attack radius, etc.
you get accessories and weapons from chests in missions and for completing missions as well it seems. also, if you find an accessory on one character it also becomes usable on other characters, even though they have to be leveled up seperately on those other characters.

Thanks a lot for the explanation Surray. Thank cleared up quite a few things. Just one quick question, I went through a lot of it's gameplay videos and found that it only has vast enemy battle sequences, but couldn't find any boss fights. For me, it's the quintessential thing in any hack-en-slash game. Do we have any boss fights in this game?
Yeah there are definitely boss fights. I'm not far into the game so I've only seen 2 bosses so far but they were pretty nice, especially the second one.
The first one was some kinda giant troll-esque thing with 2 summoning altars as backup (they spawn troops and can be destroyed), so it wasn't that special but definitely pretty challenging.
The second boss fight I had was much more unique. It was some huge quadruped monster that charges around in a large circular room in which you are trapped and regularly walks up the walls where you can't reach it to shoot at you with some gooey stuff that sticks to the ground and stuns/damages you if you're caught in it. Don't wanna spoil anything here but it was a pretty entertaining battle with a trick to it as well.
On another note... the game seems to be quite hard. Died several times already.
And I think I forgot to mention that optional mission objectives have to be found to be revealed.
So when you start a mission the objective list is like..
?????
?????
?????
and as you spot an objective in the mission (and you can easily miss many of them if you just charge through) you find out what it is. It's pretty nice and rewards exploration within the level if you're into that kinda stuff.

Fuckin' A. Had just tried it's demo and was really looking forward to it. The Behemoth boss fight was extremely tough in the demo. I guess the character wasn't levelled up and stuff. Thanks for the news though.
