Alright, now I have a X360 Arcade console which has been updated to the latest dashboard version. So I take it, that renders my chances of getting my console JTAG'd moot, right?

Now I just read up about 'Timing Attack' on Xbox-scene and it's said that with this we can downgrade the kernel of any version of the 360 to a hackable one. Now is this true? So can I find some ray of hope to JTAG my console with this?

Can someone please explain in lay man terms as to what this is and also why has the latest kernel not been hacked for JTAG yet?

it basically involves an infectus chip and kinda bruteforcing your CPU key (not really bruteforce, but rather getting a correct hash. anyway, your 360 will be rebooting every second for a few days) and then downgrading to kernel 1888, then upgrading to a kernel which leaves the box vulnerable to the (almost antique by now) king kong shader exploit, which lets you install xell without a jtag.

not possible with newest dash, only old dash is downgradable that way. and the latest kernel isn't hacked because the exploit is not in there so they can't boot their own code trough the jtag port.. an different exploit will have to be found and so far it does not look great..
