Electronic Arts confirms a new Need for Speed game that is under development

Electronic Arts today announced preliminary financial results for its third fiscal quarter ended December 31st, 2018, and revealed that a new Need for Speed game is currently under development. Moreover, the publisher will have some new Titanfall experiences (and no this isn’t Titanfall VR as some were speculating).

Unfortunately the big publisher did not reveal any additional details for the new Need for Speed game. Our guess is that Ghost Games will develop, once again, this new racing game which will most likely take advantage of the Frostbite Engine.

As COO and CFO Blake Jorgensen said:

“FIFA stands out as a robust franchise through a tumultuous year in the video game industry. Elsewhere in the business, we’re making adjustments to improve execution and we’re refocusing R&D. Looking forward, we’re delighted to launch Anthem, our new IP, to grow Apex Legends and related Titanfall experiences, to deliver new Plants vs. Zombies and Need for Speed titles, and to add Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to our sports titles in the fall.”

So basically EA has just confirmed a new Plants vs. Zombies, a new Need for Speed, and a new Titanfall experience. Here is hoping that these three games are not some mobile spin-offs and that they will be proper games for current-gen platforms!

True that. If it's a "tune your car with cards that drop from lootboxes" open world game they can shove it. I think for me the franchise died after nfs underground 2. Loved nfs porsche back in the day.

You got to love how the name reflects their business model: "NEXT SEQUEL!"

I've been messing with old PCs lately and installed some NFS games including Porsche Unleashed and I almost forgot I was testing games - spent ages playing it. The new games have so much crap added it's like a wanna be GTA game without the fun walking stuff and story. Porsche Unleashed is a no-nonsense game - pure driving and tweaking.

I wouldn't be so pessimistic, EA have learned from their past mistakes and will likely deliver a proper authentic NFS experience this time around with physics and no monetization. Speaking of which, it seems we know a bit more about it:

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
