Hiya there,
so I know Eclipse is first and foremost a IDE for Java but I also know that it is possible to get it to work for PHP and C/C++ as well.
Google wasn't helpful so far so I thought I' ask you folks.
Mind you, I'm trying to get it to work under Linux, Debian 5.0.4 to be exact.
Any help / hints / whatever, appreciated as always.

Have you tried this?

http://packages.debian.org/source/sid/eclipse

And downloading the Debian packages?

Apart from the fact that the link you posted is for the unstable version (and I'll be freaking damned if I get any unstable packages on my system Very Happy)
I think I'll try grabbing the eclipse-cdt which should solve my C/C++ problems. Well, gotta google a bit more. At least I know what I'm looking for now. PDT is what I'm looking for PHP Developement tools.
Well, anyway, you kinda put me on the right track. Thanks Smile

I usually like using unstable packages, and only fall to the stable, or a previous version of the unstable trunk, if there are some extraordinary bugs. Smile

Just love it. Figured I had to get the eclipse package from the testing because the stable version isn't really all that stable. Well long story short I completely fucked my system up :/
New installation time! (and I was so happy I had my wireless network working...)

While we're at it why the fuck is Linux such a freaking douchebag when it comes to wireless networks? O.o

It's back up and running. Now back to figuring out how to get a package from the testing release without screwing my whole installation over... again.
Btw getting the wireless network up and running was way easier than the last couple of times I did it. Dunno why. Maybe becasue I've got practice by now Very Happy

edit:
Apparently, installing eclipse from testing to stable fucks my system up completly. fubar.
Really bad. Like gnome not working anymore bad. Like can't access my hdd anymore bad.
Fuck, gotta reinstall it again. Well, tomorrow then. I'll stay with the stable eclipse, thank you very much. Evil or Very Mad

edit edit:
did I mention that other packages from testing run fine? This really really bugs me. O.o

Been dicking about in eclipse myself a few weeks back but using windows 7. Read a bunch of shit about using ubuntu with eclipse and it working together well. I know you might be partial to your distro but figured I would share that.
