is it possible? my aim is to have the dvdmenu for my dvdrips and nothing fancy at that, load up mkv choose play movie or chapter selection/audio etc..

been reading several articles on doom9 tho a couple of years old, but some members report a couple of movies they have run into that have this.. or basic form, true or not dunno.

from there i was linked to DvdMenuExtractor and fucked with that for awhile still not knowing if spending time on it is worth the effort.. cant find any sort of documentation on it either..

so does anybody (Inatan) Smile ? know anything about implementing this.. get back

I know there were attempts to introduce menus into MKV a few years back, but they stayed at the experiment level - as far as I know, they are not in the Matroska spec. So even if you manage to recreate a menu, it will be tough to find a player that supports them. My advice is to have all the tracks in the MKV (like multiple audios, subtitles, etc) and then you can choose which stream to play during playback. You can set the tracks you prefer (for example, German audio track and French subtitles) as the default tracks, and these will be loaded when you first load the MKV.
MKV spec even includes support for branching titles, meaning you can have a theatrical cut and a director's cut in one MKV with only the different parts encoded separately. This is great, but it requires a lot of work. You can read more about this on Doom 9. Smile

If you insist on menus, the Divx container has support for them (I think there are even tools that take the whole DVD menu and convert them to Divx menus), but in order to play them, you will need to use the Divx Player (Vomit). Also, I am not aware of any tools that allow you to just mux any stream in the Divx container, so that means you will need to encode the video stream with the Divx H264 encoder, which is another Vomit.

Cheers Smile

Are you sure you installed it properly? If you just downloaded the beta EXE, it will be in Korean, and if you don't have these fonts in Windows, they will appear as squares. You need to install the latest stable version, and then extract the extra beta files:

Stable:
http://imgcdn.pandora.tv/pan_img/KMP/Download/Release/The_KMPlayer_1435.exe
Beta:
http://imgcdn.pandora.tv/pan_img/KMP/Download/kmp.exe

After that, it should be in English. Smile
