I want to watch The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo. I got the DVDrip and the subtitles.

How do I watch the movie with subs using Media Player 11? I need to use WMP so I can stream it to my XBOX 360.

I have 2 avi files...with 2 .sub files for each CD. I just don't know what else to do.

Thanks

Don't you just put the subtitle file in the same folder as the video? Not sure if the subs will be streamed to your Xbox though.

yes, you just include the .sub file in same folder as .avi file. Both must be exact same filename in order to work. My ancient XBOX 1 plays subs fine using XBMC.

Yeah same folder and same name with different extensions .avi and .srt . That usually goes when you're watching movies on PC also Wink

I doubt it will work. Chances are that the X360 will only get the avi files (and even if it got the srt files I doubt it would support them), you'll need to use a tool that transcodes video files in real time and streams them to your X360. This tool would need to use direct show so that you can add a subtitle filter to the chain. You'd need to add hardcoded subs to your real time encode.

Though I don't know if such a tool even exists, it's just the only way I can imagine it to work for sure.

@todd72173: XBMC is a totally different beast, no similarities here.

EDIT: Didn't see dingo_d's post. Apparently it does work.

You can't stream subs that way. Why not get srt's and burn the avi's and srt's on DVD?
