My sister got a new computer 2 weeks ago, and after a few days later my sister told me that the computer would freeze up after a period of inactivity, ranging from 15 minutes to 1 hour. And the only way to start the computer again would be to cut the power off completely, reseting or ctrl alt del doesn't work. I've reinstalled windows hoping it would fix the problem but no such luck.
Configuration
E6500 2,93 GHz
Windows 7 Home Premium(i installed ultimate)
Asus P5QPL-AM
2x2 GB DDR2 800 MHz
GT220 1GB
320 GB
300 W
I thought immediately about the power supply since it's only 300W, but I wanted to ask here first for your thoughts.
That PSU should be enough. I'd look at the power saving settings. Maybe it's going into any of the sleep modes, and it can't wake up from that. Check it in Windows, but also in the BIOS.
Go into the BIOS settings and don't do anything for an hour or so to see if it'll freeze there or not. So, you can see if it's a hardware or a software problem.
